Ping now available on iPad

iPad users may have to wait a little longer than they'd like for features like multitasking and folder support, but at least one new feature is available right now: the iPad now supports Ping, Apple's stab at a social media component to the iTunes Store. Via an update to the iTunes Store's servers, Ping functionality is now available in the iTunes app on the iPad.

You'll find all the usual Ping features in a tab on the iPad's iTunes app: who you're following, who follows you, and so forth. Just like when Ping came to the iPhone in early September, there's nothing you need to do or download in order to get Ping working on the iPad other than open the iTunes app.

For some of us, Ping is a somewhat more enjoyable experience on the iPhone than on the Mac, and the same may be true of the iPad. Let us know in the comments how it works for you, and if this makes you more likely to actually use Ping.

Wait...

Did everyone just hear that?

I swear I just heard the sound of nobody caring.

I mean, really, who uses Ping anymore?

When is apple going to make it easier to browse music videos in the itunes store for the iPad? The iPhone iTunes store app has a tab to browse music videos easily but the iPad needs it…..so this ping feature is nice but bring on other useful features as well

I love how people fail to recognize that commercial
social networks like Facebook are also about selling you stuff and encouraging it and its discussion/involvement amongst its users. Targeted advertising according to personal details that you yourself provide willingly, a collection of products and services you "like" by hitting their like button and displaying it for your friends to see (adding a layer of trust and endorsement from you), third-party apps that may steal data developed on a platform that is dubious at best regarding privacy, etc.

I'm definitely not a Ping user but faulting Ping for this reason (while Facebook does the same if not worse) and then also decrying it for no Facebook integration is ridiculous.

Facebook delivers a free, powerful and useful social networking engine. The trade off is a few ads and contributing to statistics for interests and demographics.

Not really all that bad,
Ping doesnt really provide anything, and just directly lists music to buy.

there are many much better music sites out there.

A little insider knowledge: the whole Apple corporation downed tools for 6 months to get Ping on the iPad.

Ping is their worst idea since AppleTV. Cold streak anybody?

If i want to find new music Pandora suits my needs just fine. I never enabled Ping on any of my machines because, for the most part, my friends and I have vastly different tastes in music.

Apple needs to fix the app "genius" .. I constantly see non-english titles that have NOTHING IN COMMON with apps I own. A Korean fashion magazine based on Angry Birds? Really? it's clear Itunes allows "developers" to game the system.
