Real white iPhone 4s supposedly sold on Chinese grey market

Website Giz-China has published photos of what appear to be genuine white iPhone 4s on sale in China. The boxes are marked with a label describing them as being "for internal use only," and certainly look more convincing than many of the knock-offs we see from that area.

Prices reportedly range from 5500 Yuan (about $828 as of this writing) to 8000 Yuan ($1204).

This type of illegal resale has been a persistent problem for Apple. In 2008, the New York Times estimated that there were 1.4 million ill-gotten iPhones in the world. At this time last year, the Wall Street Journal estimated that number had grown to 2 million in China alone.

More recently, security personnel at a Beijing Apple Store were forced to temporarily close the doors while some customers purchased huge numbers of iPhones only to re-sell them just outside the store. Additionally, Apple has begun to introduce new products to the Chinese market more quickly than before, partially in an attempt to eliminate the high-demand, low-supply environment that's so attractive to opportunistic resellers.

That is not an official white, there is no diffuser on the flash, all real iPhone 4s have a flash diffuser. All conversions have had no diffuser so far.

Aren't iPhones made in China? And a bunch are illegally being sold on the streets? Shocking!

If I was a factory worker there, I would get some co-worker/friends in key divisions, pay off the night security, come back after hours, retool the spray machine for white, gold, sliver, or pink colors, plug in a bigger storage chip and PROFIT! (probably be a fantasy Mission Impossible, but where's there a profit, there is a way...)

Agree. Apple will give you 64GB of cloud storage before they'll build a 64GB iPhone.

Looks fake. The phone looks spot on, but look at the back label. No ICCID, no UPC, no Carrier Part no (understandable), "iPhone 4, Black, (16G) instead of (16GB). Pretty close though.

"The cost is even higher for the 32GB and 64GB models."

What 64GB model? When was there a 64GB iPhone 4 released, black, white, or otherwise. Did you even READ the source that CrunchGear used, because there's no mention of 64GB, it appears you added that little chestnut yourself (though, they use Gb in the source, not GB...but that's another mistake for another day).
