Fake iPhones at JC Penney let you text away your dignity
There's little to say about these "iPhones" except that they are obviously NOT iPhones. Instead, you can "message a friend up to 50 feet away" for those times when 50 feet is too far to walk or shout. Other features on this texting device include "touch screen technology" and a calculator. Pretty awesome, eh? All on sale at just $29.99 from J.C. Penney, America's top retailer of fake Chinese Apple products (just kidding, they sell pants there too). Batteries not included.
If you want to see a pic of a very similar fake iPhone in my personal collection, one that makes phone calls on a land line, check the next page. If you want to see a bunch of fake Apple products from Engadget, check out the highly entertaining KiRF series here.
Thanks to tipster Aaron M.
Bought this in some wholesale catalog about two years ago.

December 03 2010 at 3:59 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAn 8-year-old on what planet? My not-quite-five-year-old has been playing with my iPhone for 2 or 3 years and I got my friend's old 1st-gen iPhone (jailbroken, no SIM) for him so he could use the camera and do other stuff and not run down my battery all the time.
He learned to turn it on and unlock all by himself almost 3 years ago. Quite simple, really--press the one and only button on the front, then slide your finger along the glimmering text. It was all downhill after that. :-)
@Corinne 8 year olds? If I was 8 and my parents bought me this, I'd probably be pissed. Maybe a 3 year old would find this amusing/entertaining, but not an 8 year old. Just sayin'.

First of all, "just sayin'". Something I actually hear coming out of three-year-olds' mouths. That's getting pretty tired. Sorry, but it's a phrase that's gotten so overused that it now makes the person saying it sound like they're trying desperately to sound smart. Just sayin'.
Second, Victor, did someone give you a bottle of Hate-o-Rade right before you wrote this? I guess I would have spent a little time maybe puzzling about the legal ramifications of selling something called an "iPhone" that's not an "iPhone". Pretty ballsy of JC Penney, unless they have license to do so. Which could even be a whole other paragraph, with perhaps the obligatory, "Calls to so-and-so went unanswered." Instead, you went for the cheap shot with the Chinese products line. Actually, looks like they sell knock-off items with a famous label, and get away with it. Oh, and pants.
Yes, Nate, I drank a LOT of haterade before banging out this tres simple post, lol. Please check the link on KIRF before insinuating further hatinz on the Chinese knockoff market.

December 02 2010 at 7:01 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyObviously they shouldn't be called iPhones, but isn't it possible these are just toys for kids? I could see a young child liking these.
