Norwegian Apple reseller suffers break-in, 50 boxes stolen

An Apple reseller in Norway, of all places, suffered a break-in earlier this morning. According to the main local paper, Aftenposten, the thieves stole a BMW, which was then used to back into the store as seen in the wild pictures above. Once the storefront was broken open, 50 boxes were lifted from the property. While the stolen property was not identified, odds are that there were at least a few iPads in there, given that the device was just released in that country.

Two masked men were apparently seen fleeing the scene, but it's not known if the police have gotten in touch with Batman or Robin yet. Demand for the iPad is off the charts in other countries right now (not that it's suffering here in the US), so it's not surprising that they're seeing robberies overseas as well. Hopefully the thieves will be brought to justice and the stolen Apple products recovered.

The stolen goods suck, but trashing the vintage bimmer? C-mon, really?

How about you do some reading first, Jordan?

The comment is correct, but you missed the important part: "The shop mentioned in this article is part of a larger company".

That shop has not been targeted previously, other locations have been. It does not mean it's a common occurrence or something you should prepare for.

However it does start to look like Humac should think about it...

Jordan, hopefully you never get robbed, because if you do it will be your fault.

The article isn't xenophobic but TUAW does always try their best to sneer at other countries, subtly or otherwise. Release dates (of iDevices) usually justify that.

The writing style is tedious, yes. AppleInsider / MacRumors / Ars write in pre-blogger journalist-speak. Read them.

What about other crimes? Rape, murder?

I mean, they happen pretty regularly, in the news all the time.

People should know protect themselves. It's their own fault, right?

It's alright being critical from your ivory tower.

In this case ivory tower = mom's basement

Your argument falls on its own logical fallacy, this happened once, not "consistently".

Where did you get the impression this has happened more than once to this particular establishment? As far as I know, being Norwegian, it has not happened more than once.

It is also *not* a common event in Norway for shops to be robbed like this.
