Want the Radio Shack discount? You're probably out of luck
If you were waiting until today to take advantage of Radio Shack's deep, deep discount on an iPhone, you're most likely out of luck. The promotion caused a nationwide RS shortage of iPhone inventory, and AppleInsider contacted a number of the stores on Friday to find that all but one have run out of stock.
This isn't the first time "The Shack's" promos caused a run on the iPhone. The company offered a similar kickback program when the iPhone 4 was first launched. But so many took advantage of the offer that after the initial pre-orders, no new phones came in for the remainder of the program's run.
For those who missed out on Radio Shack's deal, maybe they had better luck at Best Buy's one-day sale.

And...ATT stores did not match the $150 price as previously claimed.
December 13 2010 at 9:49 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI have a 3GS and wasn't planning to get a 4, perhaps just waiting for the next generation next year. But I saw this deal on Monday and decided to go for it. I have like 5 Shacks in a 15 mile radius, and most were willing to put my name on a list for when they got more in. Turns out the closest store won my biz when they called me. Good thing, I got full value on the trade-in when my 3GS was starting to exhibit some disturbing intermittent failures and declining battery life. iPhone 4 for $25 - woo hoo!!!

December 11 2010 at 1:39 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI tried searching the SF bay area across two RS districts. Some where helpful and searched around other stores inventory. They even told me how their system for searching and tracking new inventory worked. Others adamantly denied having any and seemed irritated to offer help. Although i couldnt wait for an iPhone 4 to get shipped to me since I use mine for work, I will keep RS in mind next time...i'll just avoid the ones that have crummy employees.
December 11 2010 at 11:46 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyApparently the stores in my area were in competition because I went to 2 stores each telling me all the stores in the area were sold out but I called one other store and they had 2 16gb iPhone 4. I got one for my mom and took advantage of the full trade in value on her 3G. Couldn't beat $75 for an iPhone 4. So, that being said don't listen to what they say at RS because they might just be trying to compete against other stores. By the way, both stores got attitude when I told them I wasn't interested in them ordering one for me. RS has always been kind of sketch.
December 11 2010 at 11:16 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI went to RS last Saturday on the first day and that store was already sold out by 6pm, they said all the close by stores were also sold out. They sold me a iPhone 4 for the $50 off in the store and had it shipped to me. I got it on Tuesday. So it may not be to late if you are willing to go into a store and buy it and have it shipped to you.
December 11 2010 at 11:05 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyTried that last night. They said it was a reserve system and they just got an email that they weren't allowed to do that anymore. So if you are on the east coast, like me, you are out of luck.
December 11 2010 at 3:30 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyBasically a scam of a promotion. I called the first day and was told to come in mid-week & given an appt. - not told they didn't have any. Then they called to say to come on Fri since they're shipment was coming in on Weds now and no others stores had any either. Then on Fri they called to say no iphones came, no other store had any, but they had one store a ways away that might have one & he'd call and check. No call back and when I called today, "sorry no Radio Shack has them". Asked to speak to a manager and he said the mgr wouldn't help me. Nice. Called the district mgr who only has M-F hrs. Horrible service & false advertising to never have any in the first place.
December 11 2010 at 9:39 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI got lucky on Wed. We got the last two 4's in the store. On top of that we traded in 2 3G's and 1 3GS and got full trade in value for all of them. End result, 2 32GB iPhone 4's for $225.
December 11 2010 at 8:35 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyNo luck at RS stores in my area, so went to Best Buy on a whim. Upon asking, Best Buy price-matched the Shack's price on the phone, though I was only able to get $55 for my 3G in trade credit. Still, only $95 for a new iPhone 4 for the wife. I would imagine this deal would end today, so hit up BB.
