Infinity Blade earns $1.6M in five days

Epic. GameIndustry (registration required) and AppModo looked at the Game Center data for Infinity Blade (our review) and found that 274,000 players had registered the game by the evening of December 12. At $5.99 a pop, that means that Infinity Blade earned at least 1.6 million dollars in five days.
We say "at least" because not all players will register with Game Center, so the number could be even higher. In any case, these stats beat out those set by Chillingo's Cut The Rope, which earned over $1 million in 10 days. The fantasy fighting game is the first iOS title to feature the Unreal Engine 3. The result is stellar graphics that look incredible on the iPhone 4's Retina Display.
While counting the number of Game Center-registered players isn't the most scientific way to measure sales, it does point to Infinity Blade having a very successful launch.

Android any time soon?
I wanted to make a Android game and using the UDK might be a great way if it will be supported. I donât want to learn that engine if it will not be ported though.

My biggest complaint is people complaining about the way the game plays...I personally compare it to a fighting game like Mortal Kombat, Soul Caliber and Street Fighter. The thing is in stead of in-between stuff in those games Inifinity Blade just walks you through the castle or tier of oponents. Definitely a good game and to all those who commented...if a developer or apple can work in saves based in the cloud, which is a no brainer then universal apps will have more "delight" since right now I'm between Inifinity Blade and Lego Harry Potter both of which are universal.

I'm a bit bummed I already played it through, but really what I'm comparing to is $40 pc games, so that shows how good this really is. I got my $6 bucks worth and I haven't registered at game center and I expect there are a lot more like me out there.

December 13 2010 at 3:49 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyyour right, you can use game center with a cracked game. frankly, I'm surprised Apple isn't cross-referencing the game center database with the itunes database to see who's playing game center games that they never purchased.
It wouldn't be to different than how Microsoft brings down the ban hammer on XBL.
It is a pretty amazing game. But what is up with the Game Center Leaderboard? Some of those scores seem rather suspect.
December 13 2010 at 3:01 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI'm curious as to how the scores are even calculated, as fun as the game is, having no manual or documentation has been frustrating

It's $1.15M. Apple keeps 30% of it.
