Radio Shack has yet another iPhone promotion now through Friday

Yup. The boys are at it again with another $50 off normal iPhone prices. If you're feeling a bit retro you can score a 3GS for $48.99 with a contract.

A top of the line iPhone 4 with 32 GB is $248.99.

Radio Shack had a similar promotion earlier this month, but this latest offer does not include the attractive Trade and Save buy back program.

The first sale was a sell out, and a check of three of my local Shacks showed none had any iPhones in stock to sell, unfortunately. So, if you want to take advantage of this one, you'd better move fast. The promotion runs through this Friday, and getting the discount requires a new contract or qualifying renewal.

All these iPhone price reductions might be an attempt to offload their GSM iPhone stock in preparation for the arrival of the CDMA/Verizon iPhone.

Not that it really matters WHY they're doing it - I just think you'd be crazy to buy an AT&T iPhone when a new one that, you know, might actually work as a PHONE is about to come out...

Unfortunately, the 32GB model is nowhere to be found. They shouldn't be running a promotion if they can't deliver on it. All it does is piss off potential customers. C'mon, Shack - be a holiday hero!

Is this really a deal? You're still locked into whatever contract you have, and AT&T sells refurbished units for the same price.

Maybe it's me, but $50 doesn't mean much to me if I want a $700 (that's the still-in-contract no-commitment price) phone.

I bought the 32gb model on the last day of RadioShack's deal last go-round... turns out if you didn't switch the service from old iPhone to new iphone that day you couldn't get the $50 off. Ended up selling my old 3G (with crack on back) for $140 on Craigslist... thanks RadioShack for not buying my old phone that day.
