Website tracks App Store countdown to 10 billion apps

Is that count down or count up? In either case, visit 10billionapps.com for an unofficial countdown to the likely moment that the 10 billionth app will be downloaded from Apple's App Store. The site is maintained in part by Top Drawer Apps, and features a "guesstimate" as to when the 10 billionth app will be downloaded, based on current sales rates, among other things.

It's a bit of fun that just might help you win that bulging, US$10,000 iTunes gift card meant for the lucky soul who downloads app number 10,000. As of this writing, you've got (approximately) just over three days.

Good luck and if you win, don't spend it all in one place. Oh, wait....

Very good promotion, although the winner will be declaired when the counter hits 10b, but the counter isnt actual figures of app downloads because you can enter online and if someone downloads 26 apps in 1 day only 25 of them will be added to the counter. So its a good promotion but the winner wont strictly be on the 10 bth app

Apple gives $10000, MacPhun awards additional $5000 if the 10th app is FX Photo Studio and $1000 more - if it is any photography app: http://bit.ly/dGwQXY

That is a total of $11000 or $15000 on iTunes gift card!!!

Good luck for whoever will win, and i will try my best to download all that application. I will be glad if someone will download all of that application featured by the Apple. I hope this will be successful. And keep up the good work Apple Company.

The webpage http://appscountdown.tk/ shows that the website in the article is ± 7 hours off!

If this is like their previous contests (I haven't read the rules but assume it is), then it's not the actual 10,000,000,000 app purchase that wins, anyone who purchases an app is entered in, and once they reach 10,000,000,000 they draw a name.

From the rules:

The prize will be awarded for the entry (either through an app download or through the non-purchase online entry) sent immediately following the download of the 9,999,999,999th app.
