Don't believe the icons: iPad 2 unlikely on February 9
9to5 Mac and others have suggested that the Calendar app icon in the iOS 4.3 beta hints at a release date for iPad 2. Unfortunately, it's not likely. A Springboard preview image in the latest iOS 4.3 beta shows the Calendar app with a big number 9 front-and-center. Remembering that the original iPad showed a 27, and that it was released on the 27th, some wondered if that 9 was a bit of foreshadowing.
If so, we missed the hint long ago, because the same 9 can be found on original iPads running the latest iOS. To see it, tap Settings, then Brightness & Wallpaper. Two wallpaper thumbnails appear, one of which shows the Calendar icon with a big 'ol 9. In other words, it's nothing new.
If an iPad is
*Reader James O'Leary notes that 9to5 and others claim the 9th suggests an announcement date, not a launch. Fine. Still, the "9″ has been there for a long time and quite likely isn't meant as a hint.

The original iPad was released on April 3rd. I waited in line for it. The article says it was released on the 27th. Lots of errors on this article

Apple would NEVER EVER announce a second (or 3rd for that matter) generation of a product as long in advance as they did with the first generation. It would completely kill the sales of the current product until the introduction date.
So, knowing that iPad (1)'s are still selling like hot cakes, and assuming the product is on a typical Apple 1 year refresh cycle with iPad 2 due for availability in early April, expect an announcement some time in the 2nd half of March, but certainly not any time before that.
Wait so we are to listen to someone who doesnt even know what apple product they are talking about? Who's the more fool? the fool or the fool who follows him?

Wishful thinking from most people. I guess many people are still hoping that it will be announced around the same time as last year.
Well, most of the Android tablets announced at CES seem to be going for a March release.
Even if it doesn't have that ridiculous display, an iPad with:
- more RAM
- a pair of cameras
- some new silicon, and a
- thinner, lighter design
could really suck the wind out of those releases. Especially with a more mature tablet software platform.
Who says the 9 is February. It could be any month.
Well not any. February is out because thru are not insane enough to release the ipad2 the day before the Verizon iPhone. But any month after that is fair game
Or would be if this really was a hint of anything
Would ya mind changing iPod 2 to iPad 2 :P its a tad misleading gents
