The US Apple Store is down - you'll never guess why
Apple's online store for the US is down (all other countries' stores are still up). If I were a betting man, though, I'd say it'll be back up by 3 AM, when pre-orders for the Verizon iPhone are expected to begin. I'd also say it's a fair bet that a big percentage of people in the US who are still awake at this hour are awake because of the pre-orders. We'll let you know when the store comes back up, though it shouldn't take too long.
Update: The store is back up, and the Verizon iPhone is now available for pre-order.

Already finished my preorder from Verizon's site. Started around 2:45 AM EST. Unlimited data for $29.99, mobile hotspot for $20. Now I just have to wait a week!

But... why is the store down in Canada too? We don't have Verizon. And the iPhone 4 is already available on ALL of our carriers. ;)
Same infrasctructure for the internationnal online store. Alllllll stores are down worldwide.
