Bejeweled 3 (probably) coming to iOS

Here's some good (if obvious) news to kick off your weekend right. PopCap Games' Garth Chouteau says in a recent interview that yes, in case you were wondering, they will probably bring Bejeweled 3 to iOS. The latest version of the original gem-matching masterpiece was released on PC a while back, but many players held off in order to buy it on iPhone and iPad. Chouteau says that while "we're traditionally somewhat slow to adapt our games to other platforms after launching them on PC/Mac... Bejeweled 3 for iPhone/iPad is probably something we'll do...eventually...!"
I can't say I blame PopCap for taking its time -- of course they want to sell copies of the desktop app, and with a game as simple as Bejeweled, I'd imagine most people would rather play it in a mobile form. But even though they go slow, PopCap eventually hits as many platforms as possible, so we'll see Bejeweled 3 on iOS at some point.
The company is organizing a meetup at the Game Developers' Conference in San Francisco later this month so perhaps "eventually" will be sooner than we think. I'll be there in person, and if there are any new iOS games to speak of you'll be the first to know.

I'd be interested in seeing a citation of this fact. I didn't see this in the PopCap interview (but I could've missed it).
hmm, i think their biz. model might be flawed...i know that I far perfer playing bejeweled on touch based devices. i do most of my time killing on my phone or ipad....on the computer, the blitz app in facebook does the trick.
speaking of popcaps, zuma blitz needs to come to the iOS....
I sure hope they release Bejeweled 3 for the iPhone/iPod Touch real soon. It's the best match-3 game I've ever found on the platform. In my opinion, touch screen devices are the ideal platform for games like Bejeweled, as you just can't swap gems that fast using a mouse as you can using your finger on the screen.
I'm always keeping an eye out for another match-3 game for my Iphone that is as good as Bejeweled 2, but I have yet to find any that good, and believe me, I've bought many.
Every now and then I check the Mac App Store to see if there any price reductions for Bejeweled 3 for my Mac, but $19.95 is much more tjan I want to spend on a Mac game that won't be as enjoyable to play with a mouse (I suppose I could try it though, as I may be able to demo it on PopCap's web site). But since I'm currently unemployed, $19.95 is much more than I would want to spend on a game, versus the iOS version of the game most likely selling for less than $5.00.
I miss playing Bejeweled on my iPhone, but I played it out a long time ago ony iPhone, and so it's just not exciting to me anymore.
So I'm hoping Bejeweled 3 will be released for the iPhone/iPod Touch really soon.
Wait... your customers overwhelmingly prefer your product in one form, and TUAW "can't blame them" for being slow to release it this way, instead squeezing a few extra sales from a product people *don't* want? Who the heck plays Bejeweled on a computer anyway?
I can sure blame them. They clearly don't want people's money, because they're not getting it until it's released the way we want it.
