iPads bought in last 2 weeks eligible for $100 refund

If you bought an iPad within the last two weeks, you're eligible for a $100 discount from Apple, according to website Electric Pig. There are two "catches," if you want to call them that.

First, you must have your receipt. Second, you must be within your 14-day return window. Fifteen days won't cut it. Those requesting the refund must visit an Apple Store. Apple sales reps say the process will take about two weeks.

There isn't a lot of time to request the discount, but it's better than nothing and the refund should please a lot of people. Good luck!

Silly Apple,

If you are in the US and you purchased it with a credit card, you have 30 days to return it BY LAW regardless of their policies.

Wait... can't you just return the product for a full $500 and then buy an iPad 2 instead?

Apple has, for years, had very nice return policies in the case of product improvements/price drops.

If something new comes out and the old gear drops in price, you can either keep your item and get the difference back or trade it in for the new item (assuming prices are the same) at no charge. I've had friends take advantage of this when the iBook or PowerBook was unexpectedly improved (back before we had Intel's road map to guide us) and I myself used it when I got my iPhone exactly 13 days before the 2007 price drop. (A refurb 4 GB for $399, I got back $150.)

If you have been living in a cave for the past 2 months then surely why would anyone buy an iPad 1.0 unless it was discounted, makes no sense to be I guess some people just aren't in the know!!

Little known fact: not everyone in the world spends their days trawling tech blogs. :-)

(Yes, I meant trawling, not trolling.)

If you're within the 14-day return period... forget the $100 refund. Return the iPad and wait until the 11th to buy a new one.

Common sense.

Hmm, Its seems like it would have been a better business move to reduce iPads two weeks ago near the launch of the xoom, would have put a damper on Motorolas launch I think.
