Getting ready for iPad: black or white?
Today's the day. As consumers are getting ready to head off to their local Apple retailers to start the line wait for their new iPad, the question lingers. Black? or White?
The overwhelming TUAW blogger consensus is white. We're tired of black. We want more Stormtrooper, less Vader. We want our new device to match our MacBook Airs.
What about you. If supply allows, which color will you be opting for?

In related news, analysts believe that as many as a fifth of original iPad owners will be upgrading to iPad 2, making this an excellent time to be scouting eBay for iPad bargains. The updated iPad will be sold at nearly ten thousand stores.

One for the wife, one for me. I'm a current iPad owner, and we will both use our new devices for (amongst many other things) media consumption. I watch more videos while I commute, she reads more.
The black is for me - black video borders, black ipad border.
The white is for her - white page backgrounds, white ipad border.
(Aesthetically we both like the white better, but it came down to functionality, and not picking up the wrong one from the coffee table.)
oh, this isn't going to happen. I ordered on Apple's site early this morning and planned to show up at a store at 4p today with hope .. sounds like i might as well not bother and just wait for my online order.

It's the same as alot of the TV sets today. They sell these things with a shiny bright bezel and it's just a poor frame around the digital content you're trying to view.
Mac Book Air... silver bezel. Compare that to the other Mac Books.
There's a reason that the bezel around my Macbook Pro's display is black - it's less distracting. That white would be hugely obnoxious in any significant light.

Should have set your alarm for the middle of the night. That's what I'm going to do for the Canadian launch! :)
I checked the US web store at one point when I woke up to use the bathroom and it said 3-5 days. A few hours later when got up it said 2-3 weeks.
I end up using my iPad 1g a lot in bed with lights out (great if you go to bed much later than your wife).
I like the way the black borders make it disappear when I'm reading. I'd imagine lying in bed with a white bordered ipad that the bright rectangle around the screen would be visually distracting. So I'm sticking with black for my ATT 3g 32gb gen2 (shipping in 3-5 days)
I had made up my mind for white but now I hesitate...
