TUAW's live iPad 2 line coverage

Several of our bloggers will be livestreaming from iPad 2 lines throughout the country today, so we're setting up this page for you to bookmark if you'd like to watch our live interviews. At this time, Mike Rose will be helping us out at the 5th Avenue Apple Store in Manhattan, while Erica Sadun and I plan on tag-teaming the Aspen Grove Apple Store in Littleton, Colorado.

If you see us in one of the lines and you're a TUAW reader, please let us know and we'll do our best to embarrass you in front of a worldwide audience. The livestream window is on the next page; you can also go to http://ustream.tv/tuaw to see what's going on.

Saturday morning, March 12, 9:10 am, 50 minutes before Palo Alto, CA store opening...the line was about 100 people. An Apple store employee was monitoring the end of line down the sidewalk, and told everyone joining the line the only ipad2 model in stock was the Black, 64G Verizon model. I didn't stay, but went home and placed my order on line.( Fry's Palo Alto, which I also visited Saturday morning, 9am, said they sold out their stock on Friday.)

Willow Bend store in Plano, TX easily had more than 500 people by 5:00. We were at about 300 and they were out of AT&T versions by the time we went in. An at about 7:00 pm they notified the line at around the 400th person that they would run out and it dispersed. At 3:00 a store person expressed confidence that they would have plenty. But at 6:00 you could tell they were nervous.

I went to two stores in Manhattan (west 14th street and upper west side); both had insanely long lines, so I figured it made more sense to go home and hope they get the next shipment in soon. Work buddy who was planning on going to best buy said the store he was going to go to, was already sold out.

The iPad didn't sell a million units in the first weekend...did it? I thought it took 28 days. The iPhone 4 sold 1 mil in the first three days, though.

So what about the 28 days, did you see people queuing for the Tab or xoom?

Go figure.
