Apple reportedly working on music locker launch
Stop me if you've heard this one before: Apple is working on cloud-based music storage.
The Music Void suggests that Apple has sealed a deal with the Warner Music Group in regards to an online music "locker" that will be a part of a forthcoming update to MobileMe. Apple is supposedly using that deal to persuade other labels to jump on board.
There's a healthy serving of guesswork with a side of conjecture in that article, so do with it what you will. After all, Apple's got to use Lala and all that storage for something.

Why can't apple turn iTunes into a personal server like the audiogalaxy app?

March 25 2011 at 8:56 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHow about first revamping the mail app to be more than just a viewer. If you want the iPhone to be successful in the business world, you'll need to add flagging, folders, rules and priority just to name a few. If you don't want to do it, then please approve a third party mail app (yah yah, I know Apple doesn't like apps that would replace their native ones).
On a side note: also incorporate a usable lock screen.
Once the above are finished, then worry about cloud based iTunes. Anyone else worry about data limits with this?
Give us a download history of everything we've downloaded in iTunes/MAS with a link to redownload.
March 25 2011 at 4:52 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI would like to be able to re-download all purchased content from iTunes including items that are no longer available for sell. As we all know, DVD backups fail and hard drives fail. If you have been purchased a lot of content, it's painful to lose it.

Things that are no longer available for sale are things that Apple doesn't have licenses for. Even a subscription music service like Napster, or Rhapsody will get rid of a track they don't have licenses for.
March 25 2011 at 4:33 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhat I would love to see supported is the ability to redownload any purchased content you buy from the iTunes store as you currently can with apps.
If that's all that this service is about, I'd be thrilled. It would mean that the need to download and archive to discs for purchased (music, music videos, TV and Movies) content becomes a lot less critical (though still recommended)
I am so excited to see what iOS 5 has. Hopefully in the next 2 weeks we will find out!
