iPad 2 lines persist two weeks after launch
No, this doesn't mean that some people have been standing in line for two weeks non-stop; it means that lines continue to form at Apple stores around the USA as new shipments of iPad 2s arrive.
In fact, the lines are so notable, says AppleInsider, that Wall Street analyst Charlie Wolf of Needham & Company is now predicting that Apple will sell 30 million iPads this year, 10 million more than his original estimate. And, he predicts, Apple will sell 40 million in 2012.
With supplies running out around the world, the shipping delays of 3-4 weeks and eBay prices holding at around 150 percent of list price, it looks like those queues will continue for some time.
Wolf admits that predicting sales is difficult and that his initial predictions (and those of others) were wrong and have had to be updated.
Are there still queues at your local Apple Store? Are you still waiting for your iPad 2? Let us know in comments.

I got mine (and two more for friends) the day after launch - no wait.
So come on up to Toronto, spend a day in a beautiful city and get your iPad
I'm actually quite annoyed that they are supplying retail outlets and not shipping the online orders. I ordered mine from Apple's website on day 2 and won't receive it until April 14. All the stories I keep seeing about people walking into an Apple Store or Target and pickup one up drive me nuts. There are none available here in MN. I've checked. I was also annoyed that Apple started supplying Radio Shack with iPads before filling their own online orders. Maybe I'm impatient but I feel like I should get mine before someone who walks into a store 2 weeks after I placed my order.
March 31 2011 at 5:54 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI planned on getting the iPad 2 the day it was released. So while getting out of school on my way to Apple Store Fith Ave. I got mugged for my phone and iPod, I then had to stay at the preicint all day looking at mug shots. When I finally get out of the preicet I call all Apple Stores in Manhattan and ask what were the chances that if I was at the back of the line that I would get it and each one said highly unlikely, one even said "we closed the line at 700 people." I get home to see that the shipping time is 2-3 weeks so I decided not to order it because I didn't want to wait that long, I figured I could wait for the next shipmet at a store. But no store knew when their new shipment came in so I ordered it in the 3-4 week frame and is set to get here April 16, while the Smart Cover is already here. What a story huh?
March 30 2011 at 10:24 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe the Lincoln Park Store in Chicago, an employee said that people have been lining up at 4am daily in order to get an iPad. I'll be giving it a go tomorrow morning...
March 30 2011 at 6:28 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWent for the 3rd time (since launch day) to the Cherry Creek Apple store in the early am. Still a line, but 3rd time's a charm!
While the friendly Apple employee checked me out with my 32GB 3G AT&T iPad 2 (no wifi-only versions at all) she said, "Today's the first day we've had more vouchers than people in line". (my previous attempts left me 20 or more people away from a voucher...)
No luck on a red leather Smart Cover though. :(
So today I cancelled my iPad online order, but left the Smart Cover.
I just called MacMall, they do have some Ipad 2 64 GB Verizon models only in stock.. I ordered one with Apple on March 13 and it has an ETA of April 14th, so I would love to get it sooner, but I really don't want a VZW model... so I guess I'm going to keep waiting.
March 30 2011 at 4:43 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI called them to place an order and when I asked if it would go out tomorrow since they have it in stock, they said that they're having more orders than the 300 they have in stock so it's a matter of who's CC gets processed/clears first.
I placed an order and we'll see how this goes...
Still sold out, I have waited in a few lines earlyyy in the morning last weekend, they had a few, but not the one I wanted. I am in southern SoCal btw, there are 4 apple stores within 20 mins of each other and 9 within an hour of each other. Best Buy is the absolute worst, never ever ever buy new technology there, had a super bad experience with iPhone 4 (it was a reservation not a preorder) and they can not tell you which stores have ipads or not, lame for being the biggest tech retailer. I am going to buy directly from apple or amazon from now on

It's a strange process but you have to call to place an order. I know it sounds sketchy in 2011 but my girlfriend ordered hers on March 11 and got it March 18. I ordered mine on March 11 via Apple store and I got mine April 28. Go figure.
As proof, if you inquire about the 16gb wi-fi black or white, the rep may tell you there's a waiting list of over 400+ people.
Take it or leave it. Good luck to all.
Ordered 16GB Black wifi ONLY through the Apple Store app on my iphone on March 11 with a 2-3 week shipping time frame. The confirmation said ship date April 1 and delivery April 6. I just received it TODAY March 30!!
