iPad 2 ship times decrease to 2-3 weeks

Shipping times on Apple's website for new iPad 2 orders have decreased to 2-3 weeks as of this morning. That's a far cry from the 4-5 weeks that the store stated shortly after the iPad 2 went on sale. The new shipping times apply to all 18 models of the iPad -- white, black, Wi-Fi, AT&T and Verizon. It also appears that the 2-3 week shipping time is universal across Apple's online stores worldwide as UK and Australian stores, among others, are showing similar 2-3 week shipping times.

George- I was the same, placed order March 29th and got confirmation saying 03 May, 2011, delivery was 2-3 weeks on Apple as you rightly say which this obviously isn't. I am not fussed about the wait but Hubby is chomping at the bit!!

I ordered my white, 16GB, wifi Ipad 2 on March 24, and says it will ship on the 21 of April, and arrive April 26...
Does anyone think this could possibly be bumped earlier? I leave for New Orleans on the 22, and then leave for Springfield on the 27.

Could it come any earlier? Before I leave for New Orleans?

Thanks!

I usually play the role of the flummoxed Canuck: what with our nation usually getting second helpings and late roll-outs of the latest Apple tarts. I had already donned my traditional mug (downtrodden and such) after the iPad 2 announcement. Yup, I'd have to wait an additional 3 weeks. So, I feel a little embarrassed (as I type this on my white tablet of splendor) that on the release day I was able to waltz into an Apple reseller 1 hour after availability and buy the thing. No lining up, no hourly Fed-Ex status check-up for weeks on end. For once, being in not-U.S. has been a blessing for this Apple fanboy. Wheeeee!!!!

Ordered my 32gb, Wi-Fi, non-engraved iPad2 on March 18th. A week or two ago it went from shipping on the 22nd and arriving on the 27th, to shipping on the 21st and arriving by the 26th. However it hasn't changed to (hopefully) reflect Apple's recent ramp-up. The iPad2 is my birthday present to me! I hope it ships soon. But sadly, it's almost faster to cancel my previous order and start over.

Order on launch day in the evening, iPad arrived yesterday. Apple generally likes to underpromise, and this was true with the delivery estimate.

Mine is spected to be shipped April 21th, but the person who bought me the iPad mistakenly engraved it, I may have a chance to get it before or because of the engrave it will take that long?

thanks!

Presumably existing orders won't arrive sooner. That have just managed to ramp up to get more out in the same time frame.

Under my Account Info I've still got a delivery date 5 weeks after the order, despite the Apple store now saying dispatched in 2-3 weeks (although 3 hours ago it was 3-4 weeks). Rang Apple also but no change other than may come in sooner but that 5 week delivery date will be the latest date it arrives. Asked him why the discrepancy but tbh, I don't think he knew. Mentioned something about shipping from overseas but from a customer's point of view, that doesn't make any difference, we just want to know when, not where from. Not a big problem and I'm far from being upset but just noticed the difference in shipping dates before my purchase and shipping dates after you click the 'BUY' button :) (UK)

I'm not sure I understand what the discrepancy is. When was your order placed? If it was 3 weeks ago and the promised delivery date is 2 weeks from now (which would be 5 weeks after ordering) I don't see the problem. You'd still be getting yours about the same time as people ordering today. It just means this batch due in a couple weeks is large enough that it'll take care of several weeks worth of orders all at once, including both yours and new orders placed today.

Hi Mikehild, ordered on March 29, 2011 and have delivery 03 May, 2011, so 5 weeks by my reckoning, sorry to be unclear. However on Apple website, it didn't state that and that was my point (that might not have been clear). I don't mind the wait that much but wasn't pleased that Apple stated something on the 'order now' page and then something else on the 'your order has been placed' page a few seconds later. If I'd known it was longer, I could've gone for a different spec. The wife also remembers it was 2-3 weeks and not 3-4 weeks as I originally thought on the 'order now' page.
