Postagram creates postcards from Instagram photos

We've been fans of Instagram for a while, so we were keen to see what would happen when its developers opened Instagram's API to others. While there have been a few toe-in-the-water experiments, the first really interesting idea we've seen is Postagram. The service allows you to turn any Instagram image into a 300 dpi postcard for just US$0.99, posted to anywhere in the world. It'll be delivered within 2-5 days in the USA and will take a bit longer to get elsewhere. Sounds like a bargain.

Download the app now and give it a try if you already have Instagram installed. Postagram has a special launch offer that gives you your first postcard for free. Perfect for sending real postcards to your parents and anyone who isn't quite up there with you on the cutting edge of e-postcard delivery this summer.

WOW! There are literally hundreds of apps like this already. But I guess these days you could offer "crap" and put it together with Instagram and everyone will review it. Not saying these guys are "crap". They actually did a really good job on the app. No trash talking on TUAW either - you guys ROCK!

Pascoe: Ya, that's an awesome service!

Melvin: Thanks for the tip on PostalPix, bro! That's actually a cool service. Just ordered 5 4x4 Instagram pictures.

Does anyone else think their logo is a little too prominent on these?

With the big bright logo text on the black background, it looks like advertising. (Well, of course it IS advertising, but I mean like junk mail advertising. If I got one of these I'd be halfway towards tossing it before I saw any of the other text.)

Um, YEAH. I'll stick with PostalPix for my iPhone photo printing needs and they have 4x4 squares for Instagram.

Haha I admit I tried these guys today though!

I think the first real interesting use of the instagram API is the Boo Box by hatchcraft. Google it and see what I mean.
