Portal 2 out now

Thanks to the hard work of the folks who purchased Valve's Potato Sack promotion, the Portal 2 alternate reality game has finished, and the long-awaited sequel is now available on Steam. The game officially releases tomorrow for consoles and PC, but since the Steam version is compatible with SteamPlay, it's also available for the Mac from day one.

Portal was one of the best games of the past few years, and every indication is that the sequel will be just as inventive and fun. If you've been waiting for it, the wait is over. Go and enjoy!

Yay Portal 2! Sadly, I'll be waiting until funds get a bit better to buy it. My excitement is a lie.

I heard if you buy the PS3 version, you get a free Mac version

for anyone debating which version to buy (and you have a PS3) - you get a steam copy w/ the PS3 version.. you can play with your steam friends with the PS3 version as well.

...and if you preordered from amazon, make sure you get your $20 credit.

I have my copy purchased through steam, but I won't be downloading it until Friday as I know I will be completely useless once I start it. My boss would typically be less than pleased with that, but I think he secretly has been waiting for Portal 2 as long as I have.

I would be playing, but I have to be up in 5 hours for work as it is. I should get *some* sleep. I'll play it tomorrow. I'll tell you right now, it sucks. I want to be playing. :(

I ordered it from Amazon because it was cheaper, so I have to wait till tomorrow for my pointless disc to arrive...

Interesting. Sad when a physical disc, which they will also have to pay to ship to me (Amazon Prime), is cheaper than the digital version from Steam. I'm all for ditching the disc, but when it's cheaper, I'll get it that way. I have only bought eBooks since I got my Nook two years ago, but I recently bought Dune on trade paperback because it was cheaper than the Nook version.
