Pool fans should check out Snooker Club for iPhone and iPad

Future Games of London, makers of the popular Pool Bar - Online Hustle and (my favorite) Hungry Shark games, have just released Snooker Club for iOS. For those of you who don't know, snooker is a pool-like game popular in Commonwealth countries. You play it on a 12-foot table with 22 balls. The person who pots the most balls wins the frame (individual game). The person who wins the most frames wins the game.

In most billiards halls, you'll find groups of old men huddled around the snooker table, but FGOL has done away with the geezers and populated the Snooker Club, and you can play as one of seven beautiful women. You can play vs the computer or against a friend using two-player mode.

Like Pool Bar before this, Snooker Club features beautiful graphics with fluid camera controls and great ball physics. Best of all, the game is free for a limited time. Snooker Club is a universal app and requires iOS 4.1 or later.

Yes, just like pool, except Snooker requires skill.

No thanks - I prefer waistcoats and dickie bows to tattoos and cigarettes, no matter how much cleavage I'm missing out on. This is one iOS app where I think I'd need to shower after each time I played it.

Think I'll take my snooker app experience to an upmarket hall off the high street, rather than a sleazy chavvy dive in some back alley where I'll be mugged on the way in and have my throat slit on the way out!

It's not quite as sleazy as you might think, legs'n'cleavage are only on display on the title screen & when you pick your players ;-)

Just had a go on the iPad & it's quite good. Should be able to pan up & down the table in 'free view' mode, but apart from that little quibble I quite enjoyed it. Get it while it's free!

Yep, I agree. The auto zoom on the balls being pocketed is nice but the sleaze factor is too much. This is supposed to be a gentleman's (or gentlewoman's) game, not Mortal Kombat.

"The person who pots the most balls wins the frame"

Wrong.

Your description of snooker is a little out... Various coloured balls have different scores and the person who pots the balls to score the most points is the winner of the frame. In the first phase of each frame: you have to potting the red balls (for 1 point) and after each successful red ball you go for a "coloured" ball (scoring between 2 and 7 points) which once succesfully potted is returned to the table. In the second phase you pot the coloured balls in sequence Yellow, Green, Brown, Blue, Pink and Black.

Thanks for listening...
