Twitterrific 4.1 for iOS released, includes username auto-complete and spam reporting
Here's something to write up to 140 characters about. The Iconfactory deployed version 4.1 of its award winning Twitter client, Twitterrific, to the App Store on Thursday. The new version offers users a smorgasbord of enhancements and bug fixes.
Macworld's "Twitter Client of the Year" in 2010 and a favorite among many of us here at TUAW, Twitterrific is available for free as an ad-supported version. An in-app upgrade allows customers to ditch the advertisements and manage multiple Twitter accounts for US$4.99. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 4.0 or later.

I loved twitterific before this update, now I might have to leave it. No matter what setting I use, when new tweets are added to the timeline the app auto scrolls to the top and I'm left scrolling down trying to find where I left off. Before this update when new tweets were added it didn't affect the position you were currently at in the timeline. Also don't know why they removed the one touch star to favorite a tweet.

April 22 2011 at 12:58 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIt never ceases to amaze me how with every Twitterific update, the app STILL does NOT show what client/method was used by a user. Call it stupid to want a simple feature like that, but I can't imagine it's that hard to show what client was used to make a Twitter post. You know, "Posted 2 hours ago using Tweetbot for iPhone." Is it REALLY that hard to code this?
Nearly every Twitter app I've come across shows this somehow...and I'm not sure why Twitterific can't simply find a way to do it. Again, it's probably dumb, but add that feature to Twitterific and I'll pay the $5 US to upgrade...especially for the iPad. Until then, I'd rather use Tweetbot for iPhone in 2x mode or Twittelator, both of which have that feature & everything else I'd personally like.
MfS, we used to have that feature, but we remove it at some point, we might bring it back in the future. All based on the priority on the feature request list. Whatever function we add will have to work across three platforms. So we have to design it right.

April 23 2011 at 9:57 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI gave up trying to use Twitterrific many versions ago because the iPad app was always way behind the iPhone version in features. The auto-complete of usernames was a big one for me, because some of the people I follow have either long names or oddly spelled user names. I'm glad it's finally a feature but it took way too long. And where is geo-tagging your tweets? I see that is still missing in action. The only thing Twitterrific has going for it, is the color themes. It may be visually appealing, but it's not fully functional.
I'm sticking with the official twitter client, it has all the features.
boystar22, we have finally unified all the code across iPhone, iPad and Mac. Once the 4.1 Mac version released. We will release new features across all three platforms at the same time frame.

It stopped working and instead of fixing it they released a new app and refused to refund my purchase. Worst company on the app store as they don't care about you once they have your money.
