Rumor: Bungie working on an iOS app

Here's another interesting rumor (to match the one about Duke Nukem the other day) featuring a major gaming property coming to the iPhone. Touch Arcade spotted a trademark by game developer Bungie for something called "Crimson," supposedly related to "computer game software for use on mobile and cellular phones." That would hint at an iOS and/or Android release from the legendary Halo developer, who recently split ways with Microsoft to work on an original IP for Activision. Bungie started out making games for Mac, and this latest game is rumored to be an online shooter, possibly with MMO elements, which would make it perfect for going cross platform on Windows, Mac, consoles and smartphones.

Of course, none of this is confirmed by any of the companies involved. All we have so far is this trademarked name, Crimson. But iOS is clearly growing in popularity as a platform among even more traditional developers, and Bungie, free as it currently is from the reign of Microsoft (who itself has even relented to the popularity of iOS), has got to be interested in the iPhone and the iPad as gaming platforms.

Funny that you quote a 3 year old article on Bungie as "recent". Of course during the time that Bungie split with MS they both managed to release 2 more Halo games. I think you are misusing the terms "split ways".

My guess? Development will drag on until Bungie gets bought out by Google and cancels their iOS version of the game and releases it as an Android-only game.

Oh that's right, they are publishing under Activision. Well that's another set of Bungie games I won't be playing since Halo: Combat Evolved (the bad port Macsoft did of the Gearbox port). Nope sorry, Bungie you once made good Mac games but that was last century. Maybe if you found someone other then Activision maybe I'll take another look.

Activision = Game Poison

(Fix Transforms: War for Cybertron PC edition... oh and Modern Warfare 2... ah lets just say you toss out every last person with a console only focused mentality and love of 3 month support cycles with "clothing" DLC, and we'll call you all better.)

The first time I read that article, I got the impression that Crimson may be akin to Steam. "Bungie Aerospace" heading for the cloud(s), as it were. Either way, it's nice to once again look forward to whatever they are doing.
