Yahoo! Messenger lets iPad 2 owners video chat with PCs

Yahoo!

Yahoo! rolled out a new Messenger app for iOS that includes support for the iPad 2. The tablet-optimized app will let you make voice and video calls using the front-facing camera. Yahoo! Messenger has a wide install base, and you will be able to make video calls to any device with a camera and a compatible version of the messaging app. Besides video calling, Yahoo! Messenger will also send SMS messages for free. The SMS feature is a quick way to message to a friend, but you have to remember these messages come from your Yahoo! account, not your mobile phone number.

Are you telling me that the iOS version can really do video chat while the Mac desktop version is still tagged as "beta" after more than 5 years and still able to do just video streaming?

@ Sam,

Thanks for the response. I tried to uninstall/reinstall/delete the preference file. It worked for a little while, but still crash on my laptop or desktop. I have been using the latest (beta) version that's available. (beta because I can't seem to find a dl for an official release.)

I'll try and use the app uninstallers and start over again.

Thanks again for the advice!

Does anyone know if the app will crash while using video as much as their desktop client for OSX?

I use the desktop client to video chat and the constant crashing is a BIG issue.

Have you tried uninstalling using an actual uninstallation utility like Appzapper or CleanMyMac? (the trial version will show you what to remove) and reinstalling?

Barring that, have you tried deleting the preferences file?

You are talking about an application crash, right? And not a "video freezes" problem?

Have you tried installing the latest version?

For me, it mostly crashes on shut down.
