The most expensive iPad apps
Are you rich? Or just can't control your spending habits? If you answered "yes" to either of those questions and own an iPad, I've got some apps to show you. Most-expensive.net has compiled a list of the ten most expensive iPad apps. The apps range in price from US$299.99 all the way up to $999.99.
The top three most expensive apps all cost $999.99.
- The Alchemist SMS helps the steelmaking and scrap metal recycling industry reduce raw material costs.
- Intuition Control Solo WolfVision lets you control WolfVision visualizers.
- BarMax CA provides a bar exam prep course.
The thing about these $1000 apps is they actually do perform very useful functions for a limited audience, unlike other apps that cost a grand.

If you care to check the Australian iTunes store, then they are going to be even more expensive.
I was about to take advantage of Southern Stars updated version of their fabulous app, SkySafari Pro, listed in their email as US$29.99. "You beaut!", I thought. With the strong Aussie dollar, that should be even cheaper.
WRONG. Try Au$36.99
Is this price gouging or what.
Part of that is VAT I am sure. Hard to say what else there is. It is important to remember that most people in the US will pay $31 or more for it. There may well be other additional operating expenses for Apple in Australia.

It's a restaurant management/POS app and is a free download for a basic version, with the full functionality available as an in-app purchase for $999.
The most expensive book I've seen so far on iBookstore costs 189 dollars.

May 30 2011 at 10:33 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI'm not going to buy it, but I have looked with interest at this $140 app, which I could feasibly use in my job as a structural engineer... but I already have access to really expensive desktop software that can do all this and more: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/casa-space-frame-3d/id371089612?mt=8
But if I were an independent contractor and doing really simple structures, this might be worth the money.
In Australia, that App is listed at AU$169.99
