Google Chrome 12 offers safer downloads, hardware acceleration, more
Google has updated its Chrome browser to version 12. Perhaps the coolest feature of Chrome 12 is the support for hardware-accelerated 3D CSS. Any websites (like this one) and web apps that use 3D CSS effects will now have those effects rendered on your page with the help of your computer's graphics card, which should allow for faster and smoother 3D effects.
Chrome 12 also adds a host of privacy and security features. Chrome will now warn users before they download some types of malicious files. Chrome 12 also gives you more control over the data websites store on your computer, including Adobe Flash's Local Shared Objects. Chrome 12 is a free download.

Oh please. 12?? Come on Google, adding one to the version number every other week is not fooling ANYONE. This is getting ridiculous for the youngest browser on the market to be on its 12th major version.
You know that if it does start to influence people that all software will start calling every bugfix release a new major version. "Firefox 46.0--we fixed that bug that was affecting bookmark importing!"
Argh.
Well, it's not like they are charging you for every major version upgrade. Who cares what the version number is? I hate it when you see something live 1.1ver3release7option4date3-6-2011time12:04:05#23.1.
In fact, I remember a time when WordPerfect (I go back that far) had 2 versions of the same realease with only a different date/time stamp on the files. One was buggy, the other, buggier.
I once created a database that would randomly create a new version number whenever you logged in. No one ever noticed it.
Have they finally enabled "Create Application Shortcut" or fixed Command-Enter?
Looks like no and no.
This new version overheats my MBP.

I was hoping this upgrade would fix this overdrive but still coming up. Now every time I hear my fan I check my activity monitor. :)

Yeah, a little bit of overkill to be re-versioning each one.
Gee, I'd love to update Chrome, but it seems I don't have permission to access all of the files. Shouldn't this sort of crap be a PC problem?

You'll need to be on an admin account.
