iPad rigged up with 3D screen in Taiwan

Display Taiwan 2011 is going on in Taiwan this week, and at a booth for a company called CPT, there's a device on display that looks very much like an iPad (though with the actual Apple logos and identifying information covered up) that's been Frankenstein-ed together with what appears to be a 3D display. You can see the device in the video below thanks to YouTubers minipcpro.

They call this an iPad 3 prototype, but I don't think it's that -- my guess is that this Taiwanese company just either opened up an actual iPad, or came across some iPad parts, and inserted their own display in the device. It's more a proof of concept than anything else. All you see running is that photo app, not a full version of iOS.

Plus, it seems unlikely that we'd ever see 3D like this implemented in an Apple device, much less something that required glasses like that. Still, it's wild to see a completely different display show up in an iPad wrapping like this.

On an unrelated note, it'd be great to see a warning along the lines of "The first 10 seconds are an ad" or the like.

Looks more like a polarizing film has been attached between the screen and the glass. This could very easily be a 100% original iPad 3G (first-get) with a film affixed to the screen and (very carefully) lined up so that the polarizing material matches pixel-for-pixel.

As I've told you dozens of times the iPad 3 will be the iPad 3D and yes it will require glasses when using 3D, but you'll probably only use 3D in select apps (apple's API calls) and in the movies. Disney is busy converting their entire catalog to 3D for this.

This is just a normal vendor doing it however, Apple is doing it as well.

I'm going to scoop out the display and electronics of my iPad and fill it with earth and some flowers. Then maybe I will be able to convince people, and more importantly, the bank manager, my flower shop has just got a big deal with Apple.
