Facebook prepping a photo-sharing app for the iPhone

Leaked information provided to TechCrunch suggests Facebook is prepping a photo-sharing app for the iPhone. From the description, the app is a mixture of Instagram with some of the location information and social sharing of Path and Color. A few surprises are also supposedly thrown into the mix.

The app, of course, is integrated into Facebook and ties into your Facebook account. Right now, it is a standalone app, but these features could eventually make their way into the official Facebook iPhone app. The amount of information available now is just a tease and TechCrunch promises more information will be released soon. Stay tuned.

Joe Hewitt left the FB app team (due to his opinion of the AppStore approval policy) and ever since then, it has sucked large testies.

You know what would be even cooler? If FB's iphone app worked like it should. Less crashes, actually showing comments and posts when I get notifications that there are new ones, etc. THEN, a photo sharing app would be nice.

Sweet. This is one of the nicest things about the iPhone: it tends to get apps (and their subsequent updates) first. I hardly know anyone who uses Instagram, so this sort of Facebook functionality would be welcome to me.

I'll stick with Instagram, thanks.

I wonder why Facebook doesn't just fix the terrible app they have? There's so much potential...

^ Agreed. The facebook app is so buggy and crashes, and never loads items properly.

I wish they would stop wasting time competing with Instagram and fix their horrible app...

Thank you. The Facebook app is downright terrible. It's slow, buggy, crashes frequently, misses obvious stuff on the news feed (Oh, you mean I can like comments now? And now I can't? And now I can? And now I can't?), and in general is a disgrace to the iOS platform considering how many other popular social networking apps are done so much better.

But it's okay. I deleted the app and now I use the mobile Facebook shortcut on my home screen combined with Boxcar to give me notifications. It's not perfect, but I don't have to play ridiculous games anymore to get the info I want.
