Happy First Birthday, iPhone 4!

One year ago today, where were you? Were you standing in line waiting to snag the newly announced iPhone 4, or were watching from afar, marveling at the long lines? Unless you had your head in the sand, you were likely doing one or the other.
In the 12 months since its launch, the iPhone 4 has left an indelible mark on the smartphone industry. It's now available globally and remains the top-selling handset.
Speaking of first anniversaries, a friendly reminder for those who were early adopters of the iPhone 4: the one-year warranty runs out starting today for those who bought their handset at launch. You might want to add the extra protection of AppleCare to cover you until the iPhone 5 comes out.

I was one of the guys who pre-ordered the 15th and ender up getting it on the 23rd. So I had mine broken in for a day already :)

I bought mine on the release date and was having problems with the home button. After a day of dealing with their "solution" I took it back on the 23rd knowing it was the final day of the warranty and demanded a new phone.
June 26 2011 at 1:20 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI got to the Washington Square Mall location at 10pm the night before for the iPhone 4. 36 people in line ahead of me. And the guy that was right behind me was in front of me during the iPhone 3G launch (I was number 3 in line). 6am rolls around, and Apple employees came out to get a head count and to see who had a reservation. Myself and the guy behind me had one. Everybody that was ahead of us didn't have one. BOOM! Front of the line at 7am and the first in the store!

It's a total disaster! Keypad too small for my fingers, and it won't accept a pencil as a stylus. Yet it wants a whole litany of passwords and "apple ids" that need to be accurate, of course.

June 25 2011 at 10:45 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyStarted standing in line at 9 am and got my hands on the phone at about 12:30 am...met some really great people and I will never do it again!!!

If I had AppleCare I'd have a fixed or replaced phone instead of having to buy a 3G off craigslist to hold me over until the 5 comes out.
