Parts suppliers reportedly prep for iPhone 5, iPad 3 assembly

Digitimes is reporting that the suppliers for the iPhone 5 and iPad 3 are gearing up to provide components for the next iterations of both of those devices. That in and of itself isn't really surprising -- of course Apple is working on new iterations of all of its devices. But what is interesting about this little leak is the timing. We first heard that Apple was lining up suppliers for the iPad 2 back in November of last year, which the benefit of hindsight now tells us was just about four months before its eventual release in early March of 2011.
In other words, hearing about the iPad 3 suppliers starting to turn the gears now could mean, assuming that Apple is still on the same manufacturing schedule, that we're going to see another new iPad as soon as four months from now -- sometime before this coming holiday season. Would Apple release two iPads in one year? Blogger John Gruber has already suggested that they'll do exactly that, and certainly the timing of this leaked announcement supports that idea.
As usual, nothing is confirmed until we hear it from Cupertino officially. But you can at least add another log to the fire of rumors that we may see the iPad 3 before 2011 has left us behind.

Yet as Apple gets ready to release 15 million devices through the upcoming season, I can’t help but wonder if the grandiose investment is well calculated. Personal paranoia aside though, I did come across a pretty interest article on a similar topic the other day and think that it’s something you may find pretty interesting as well. Either way, it’s a fun read in case you run out of free fliers during morning coffee: http://www.pressdisplay.com/pressdisplay/showlink.aspx?bookmarkid=FT3EK9QESE12&preview=article&linkid=c657c984-5253-4674-9cad-7fa62ffb1b05&pdaffid=ZVFwBG5jk4Kvl9OaBJc5%2bg%3d%3d

I feel like all the people who complain "it's too early" are dumb. If you bought an iPad 2 and iPad 3 comes out either be happy with your choice or sell it to someone who still wants an iPad 2. It's like people are crying because they want to feel more important a little longer, rather than be happy there is something more impressive coming soon. At the end of the day if they can bring a better experience why wouldn't you want a new iPad or iPhone . I just wish everyone would stop hindering development, and maybe we won't keep getting piss poor incremental upgrades that take years to implement items people keep asking about.
July 03 2011 at 2:52 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI have been writing on just about every iPad 3 fall rumor so far, and I still think this is some kind of misunderstanding. Unless you have some type of issue like what @Paulgans said about needing some type of hardware control feature which I still don't understand why Apple wouldn't wait. then that could be the only legitimate reason for a new iPad this fall. I think many people have an iPhone and iPad and when it comes to priorities the iPhone will always be the more priority item. I think if they came out with an iPad3 it would just piss off many of their true fans since many of them bought the iPad2 more than the original iPad and it would also hurt sales since the iPhone is a more needed item. I also think having your entire mobile operating system lines come out at the same time is a mistake because of what I have said before people will pick a priority.

BUT, just thinking out loud, could there be some reason why Apple want to complete a Trifecta at this time. IOS, iPhone5, & iPad 3. Could there be something behind the scenes that would call for such a triple threat?
I doubt there is a cash flow problem, even with all the building expansion. So a really huge Christmas sales season would not be the reason.
Is there some new technology lurking in the background that will only function on upgraded iDevices?
Maybe some drastically new voice control?
Does Apple see some sort of improvement in its unimpressive competition and Apple wants to beat them to the punch?
Or could it be a more personal reason? Does Steve want to see a new trio while he can still bask in the glory?
No matter what actually happens, it is interesting to read the rumors and speculate. And that is where Apple excels. No one cares what everyone else is making, but when Apple hints at something new, we all go wild.
Retina display would be the only reason they would do so in terms of aligning their products. Otherwise it just makes no sense.

July 02 2011 at 12:58 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI don't know if I believe this but some of these comments make sense of why they are delaying it til october time: http://aol.it/ixr1Vv
I am hoping they are delaying this til October because they are going to put LTE in the phones. Please Apple, do it!! 4G in my area is 20+ mbps. Faster then my home crap DSL internet. service.
