LogMeIn Ignition update will expand file-transferring capabilities

LogMeIn has submitted an update to the App Store for its Ignition app which expands the file transferring feature added earlier this year.

The initial rollout of this feature was already pretty nifty to begin with, however Steve Sande pointed out in March that you couldn't save documents back onto your PC or Mac from LogMeIn. This appears to be rectified as the update will add the ability to transfer photos and videos from LogMeIn to your PC or Mac wirelessly. Sounds a lot like a certain new service Apple is rolling out, doesn't it?

In addition to this, instead of having some photos in the Photos app and some in Ignition, all of the photos and videos brought onto an iOS device via Ignition will head straight to the Photos app.

The LogMeIn update will also include the ability to create new albums and folders on the iOS device and use the app to email files from an iOS device to a PC or Mac.

LogMeIn Ignition is US$29.99 and the new update will be released pending Apple approval.

I can't figure out how the email feature works. No matter what file I tap on and bring the menu up, "email" is disabled.

WHen the Mac client worked this was great, but the last update they did broke it so I can;t use this at all. They have lots of peole complaining on their forums but no fix, and it's been this way for a while. So if you have Mac, don't buy this untill they fix the Mac client.

If only they released an Ignition app for MacOSX.. their website and safari plugin are rather annoying and slow.

I can't recommend LogMeIn enough. Yes it was tough swallowing the $30 price tag, but I've found it to be worth every penny. It works as advertised and does it really well. Try out the free (non mobile) version. The experience you have there is just as good as what you get on iOS, and it may help you decide.

I ended up buying Splashtop's remote desktop solution instead of Ignition - It was on sale for $2 and I had a hard time coughing up the $30 for LogMeIn's solution. Is it worth it? Any unique / awesome features?

It is nice that you can file transfer between devices, and that you can use a Mac or PC (I use school computers to access my home computers), instead of the iOS devices.

Also, the Pro trial is not necessary (and actually doesn't work with iOS devices), so you can tell it not to even sign you up for the trial.

It's also nice to have a cursor that you can move around, as some times, pinpointing on the small iPhone screen is an issue (even though you can zoom in).

Finally, Splashtop's online access just came out of experimental, while LogMeIn's been doing it since the beginning, so they're way ahead in that area.

Am I the only one seeing blocks of "A" for the article titles? Is it me?

Not a big update for me, as I use iPhoto to organize, but very glad that they are adapting and still continuing to improve their amazing app and product for the changing times.
