The Hit List for iPhone 1.0 now available

The (incredibly lengthy) wait is over! The Hit List for iPhone 1.0 (US$9.99) is now available. The app features cloud sync with its desktop companion, The Hit List for Mac ($49.99), which can be enabled via an in-app purchase for $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year. Note that The Hit List for iPhone requires iOS 4.1 or later.

Meanwhile, MacHeist customers can receive 3 months of sync subscription by entering a license key here.

It's a much-anticipated app to say the least. We'll have a full review in coming days. For now, grab your copy and start getting things done...in the cloud!

Why anyone would pay this much for a to-do list app is beyond me. Not to mention the track record of the developer. Good luck getting any updates. I don't trust Potion Factory at all.

I've downloaded the iPhone app. Works great, and sync with the desktop app is screaming fast. THL is now top of the heap in GTD.! I've used them all, and THL is my favorite because of its awesome support of keyboard commands, nested task lists, easy inline entry of context and tags, and it's great look and feel.

$20 bucks for the sync service is in line with other like services, and ITS REALLY FAST! The developer has already said that he will be looking into iCloud sync.

I wonder what makes the synchronisation feature of THL so special that it took the developer so long. Seemingly being abandonware, I left THL years ago. I use Wunderlist instead. Free, apps on all platforms and cloud syncing just works.

The development of The Hit List has been a long time in the making. I ponied up for the pre-purchase back in late 2009 soon after switching to Mac from PC - The Hit List was and is an impressive application.
Since then I've moved onto other apps (capable of syncing) for my todo's and regarded the $50 I paid as a sad loss. The recent news that the Mac development on The Hit List was complete, as well as the iPhone app was welcome - but the news I would have to buy not only the iPhone app (expected) but also a subscription to a syncing service was not so well received.

While I accept that the custom sync service allows Potion Factory to provide Hit List users with the best cloud solution - I do hope that when iCloud is released The Hit List will support sync via that service as an option as well.
If it does not, I suspect I will not be using The Hit List to sync my data after my 1 year free subscription to the service has expired.

With the lull of development both on the desktop and iOS, I've since moved on to Toodledo

I think the Potion Factory announced their in-house paid syncing plan just a few days before the announcement of iCloud. I have to imagine there was much gnashing of teeth as a result. I also have to expect they're going to have a hard time convincing customers to pay for their in-house syncing plan when Apple's is just sitting there for free, taunting them. I like the Hit List on my Mac, but I have a hard time seeing $20/yr for this service myself.

I'm pretty sure he has said he is working on implementing iCloud.

Yeah, and how long is that going to take him?

I was a paid up owner of the Mac version which was in beta for years with no communication from Andy. He has no credibility as a developer.

I went with Omnifocus instead. More expensive, but a solid range of products, and the Omnigroup is not going away anytime soon. Plus really nice syncing.
