JailbreakMe fix available for stuck Verizon iPhones

A fix has been released for Verizon iPhones stuck after jailbreaking with JailbreakMe 3.0. Some users found their Verizon iPhones stuck at the white Apple logo after applying the jailbreak. Not to worry, as Comex has provided the following instructions to get you back on track:

"A bug in JailbreakMe 3.0 could cause iPhone 4 (CDMA, i.e. Verizon) to get stuck at the Apple logo and be unable to boot. If you are in this situation, there are two options:

1. Hold down the home and power buttons until you see "Connect to iTunes", then use iTunes to restore to the latest firmware. This will lose data stored on the phone.

2. Apply a quasi-experimental fix using redsn0w. Download:

  1. redsn0w 0.9.6rc19: Windows / Mac (do not use an earlier version)
  2. Fix bundle, depending on firmware version: 4.2.6 / 4.2.7 / 4.2.8
  3. IPSW for your firmware version, if you don't have it: 4.2.6 / 4.2.7 / 4.2.8

Open redsn0w, select your IPSW, choose 'Install custom bundle', and select the fix bundle. Then follow the directions. If it works correctly, after installation your phone will boot normally."

That should do it. Also note that the JailbreakMe 3.0 tool has been updated and is now ready for Verizon iPhone owners to use as-is.

1. Spring Board settings: 1 finger swipe reveals up to 12 one toggle on/off functionality: edge, 3g, wifi, location, bluetooth, free memory, etc...
2. Infidock: put infinite number of apps on task bar. move among them by swiping task bar. I currently have 5 (not 4) on first task bar; swipe left reveals 5 more
3. Inififolder: put as many apps/icons as you want in any folder (not limited to 12)
Many more BTW...check it out. Most apps are free to 1.99, just like app store. This is not about stealing, but increaed functionality

You guys can fight over what to call a failed jailbreak, that is important...

But since i have asked before and never gotten an answer, once more into the breech...

Why jailbreak at all? What great apps and abilities am i missing? Everyone I know who has a jailbreak iphone talks about how great it is, and then shows me a bunch of stuff that falls into one of three categories: 1. Stolen apps, 2. lame stuff I can't imagine wanting, like wiggling icons when i change screens, 3. creating a wireless hotspot, which they no longer use, because they got an email from AT&T.

What am I missing?

@Ian Charges & @fireftr214

Used it on at least 4 AT&T iPhones as well as my iPad 2. No problems.

Bricking is not an accurate description A brick is an inanimate clay or rock item used to build structures, a frozen iPhone is just a restore away from functionality.

The worst consequences of jailbreaking is a frozen phone requiring a restore. Don't spread FUD.

You're an idiot. Jailbreaking is perfectly safe. The phones can easily be fixed. Nothing is ruined, everything is OK. Jailbreaking is safe and legal and should not be shunned by people who don't understand it like you.

If you are restoring firmware with iTunes, why wouldn't you just go to jailbreakme.com since it is fixed? Sounds easier than fixing the bundle and using redsn0w.

There are two options. Fixing a bundle beats restoring the whole phone and having to start all over again.
