Apple revised South Korea's iPhone warranty

The South Korean Fair Trade Commission has said that customers who receive defective iPhones can exchange them for non-refurbished models, Bloomberg reports. This reflects a change to Apple's iPhone warranty in that country.

Apple has given phones refurbished with new parts to customers in that situation. Owners complained that Apple's policy states they may receive refunds, new phones or free repairs. Now a customer who meets the criteria may choose which option s/he would like to receive. If a new phone is the choice, that customer will receive a brand-new iPhone, not one containing refurbished parts.

Way to go South Korea. This an the 7-day app return policy are really good for consumers/constituents in their country.

Now, if only we didn't have a Republican house majority intent on destroying all consumer protections in the USA...

Yes, it would be much better in having a Democrat house majority intent on taxing us to the point where we can no longer be consumers, that is if everyone isn't just relying solely on welfare.

There is more than one political party in the United States? Who knew?!

Both "sides" try to dupe you into their agenda with a certain set of guiding principles. It's politics.

Partisan hackery aside, it's got less to do with politics and more to do with business culture. South Korea caters to less customers and it's kind of a new frontier for some foreign tech companies to do business there. There's an unacceptable measure of fine print that most Americans don't care for or neglect.

How many stories on blogs are there about Apple replenishing stock of refurbished iPad 2s? and how quickly do they sell out?

Apple's the most reasonable company when it comes to customer satisfaction. It's really no surprise they'll cater to local demands if it means business. China in particular and to South Korea with some extent.
