Apple officially announces iPhone event for Oct. 4

Jim Dalrymple of The Loop has received an invitation from Apple (pictured below) for a press event to announce the new iPhone. It will occur on October 4 at Apple's campus in Cupertino, starting at 10:00 AM PT.

Please note that Apple's typically terse invitation simply says "iPhone." No "5," no "4," no "S." Which model(s) will be discussed? Well, that's the surprise, now isn't it?

We can't let this pass without a little wild speculation. While rumors suggest that the next iPhone will feature dramatically improved voice recognition, that "talk" could have a double meaning. Toss in a comma* and you get "Let's talk, iPhone."

We'll have full coverage on the fourth. Here we go, folks.

*Yes, I know the comma isn't really there. Don't spoil my fun.

iPhone event code solved:-

first icon is the date: 4th

second icon is the month: 10th...Oct

third icon is part of the address: 280 means "To(2) Infinity (8) Loop(0)"

fourth icon is part of the address: 1 is address.

So it reads,

"4th Oct, To Infinity Loop,1"

People ALWAYS over guess what the next Apple device will have.

Is it not more realistic for Apple to bring out an iPhone 4s with the following....

-Improved Camera
-Improved Storage
-Improved Battery
-one model for the whole world... ...which would lead to cheaper production, marginal price reduction, antenna redesign, and a real push a Black Berry corporate users.
-A5 processor.... ....for killer software feature only available on the 4S such as the rumoured assistant. (As the case with voice dialing (3GS), backgrounds (3GS), battery % indicator (3GS), multitasking (3GS / 4)).
-Less weight

YOU ALL GOT THIS ALL WRONG.
The biggest announcement from Apple according to the first icon is that, Apple has now invented 4 Tuesdays! The second icon suggested that Apple has achieved this by using a time traveling device. This device is incredibly huge, notice the third icon. The red pin suggested that the event will be held outdoor right on the street. As for fourth icon, this represent Steve step down from his position. Since then, no one pick up his call (so sad). And last, the texts printed on the bottom suggest new iOS 5 will feature a function that will let your iPhone talks ! Simply amazing, Apple has done it again.

Maybe "1" is a call from the presentation to Steve, who will be heard, but not seen.

Who Seriously believed that there would be two new iPhones?
In 2009, there was the new 3GS (or 3rd iPhone) and the 3G (or 2nd iPhone) was kept around for those who believe in false economics.
In 2010, there was the new iPhone 4 (or 4th iPhone) and the 3GS was kept around for those who are financially challenged.
Next Week, there was always going to be a new iPhone 5 while the iPhone 4 will be kept around for those who are "FInancially Conservative".

There was never going to be an iPhone 4S because that doesn't make any sense. The only reason the iPhone 3G was named such was because it used the 3G network. The only reason the 3rd iPhone was named the 3GS was because "iPhone 3" was already taken by/too similar to "iPhone 3G".

To be clear - EVERYBODY seriously believed there would be TWO new iPhones. It is the minority opinion that there will be only one phone that supports both GSM and CDMA - a single phone that works on both Verizon and AT&T (in the US).

So yes, it would be a BIG DEAL that there is only one phone.

Does anyone else think Steve will make an appearance?; or let Tim have all the glory on this one? Personally I kinda hope they let Tim shine as he will be doing more of these, maybe next year in a larger, more usual venue.
And I also think the 1 missed call will be part of the 'demo', hold down the button on your headpiece and ask it who called me and ring them back or send them a message/email/iMessage.
The iCal icon is obvious, so is the clock.
The big question is…will Tim be wearing the Black Turtle Top with Slim Jeans outfit? I hope not!

On a side note, if the Assistant feature is true, will there be a iStalk.app in the Jailbreak AppStore, for things like, alert me when I am near such a person, or where is that person now, pretty sure Apple wouldn't let us use that sort of tech would they?

Four icons. It obviously means they're introducing the iPhone 1S. It'll have four functions. A calendar, clock, maps, and the phone. Apple has determined that you don't need all that other stuff cluttering your busy life. Hey, they got rid of buttons, didn't they?

Well it is curious that you mention it.

I broke my iPhone4 2 weeks ago. Haven't got it fixed yet and haven't resorted to some junk phone..

So what have I missed? Having a torch mostly. Hmm and after that my contact list, not to call/sms but for reference or when someone asks me for a number. Finally perhaps being able to check the time.

Yeah, so if Apple released an iPhone that was a torch with a contact list and a clock i'd be pretty well sorted out.

As for the lack of a phone/sms/email/internet/social/news/game/book device, strangely I haven't missed that at all!
