TUAW Talkcast: Wow, I wonder what's happening this week?

Hmmm, I wonder if anything is going to happen this week? It's not as if the world's most valuable company is going to have a public announcement or anything... We'll talk about the many rumors buzzing around about the iPhone 4S and/or iPhone 5, throw out our own opinions, and see what you have to say.

That's what's on the agenda for tonight's TUAW Talkcast: Anticipating the upcoming announcements at the iPhone event on Tuesday. We'll review the week's news as well, and of course your questions and comments make the show better each time.

To participate, you can use the browser-only Talkshoe client, the embedded Facebook app, or download the classic TalkShoe Pro Java client; however, for +5 Interactivity, you should call in. For the web UI, just click the Talkshoe Web button on our profile page at 4 HI/7 PDT/10 pm EDT Sunday. To call in on regular phone or VoIP lines (viva free weekend minutes!): dial (724) 444-7444 and enter our talkcast ID, 45077 -- during the call, you can request to talk by keying in *8.

If you've got a headset or microphone handy on your Mac, you can connect via the free Blink or X-Lite SIP clients, basic instructions are here. Talk to you tonight!

iPhone 4s will be a spec upgrade. Maybe A5, maybe RAM upgrade.. maybe. I would put money on $99 8gb model. No camera upgrade though.

iPhone 5 will be what all the case rumors and spec rumors have shown. Apple has done a great job of keeping the cards close to the chest this time after the iPhone 4 leak last year. Bigger screen, thinner, 8mp camera, A5, 1gb RAM, Assistant.

It was not mentioned anywhere but the chat room tonight, but Tim Cook has to knock this out of the park. For public perception of the company, for shareholders, for developers, hell.. for himself. Anything but an iPhone 5 with hardware and spec upgrades will be a disappointment and cause negative press for Apple, especially the 1st major product announcement since Steve Jobs departure as CEO.

I found it shocking that Erica failed to ever acknowledge this. Over and over again she talked about the spec upgrades being excited for developers. A HUGE percentage of iPhone owners and possible owners are NOT developers. The look and the "new" are what matter most to these people. That is why I believe we will see a major redesign and a $99 ip4.

Great ustream/talkshoe/talkcast tonight. Totally went off the rails at the end, but still good.

I predict iPhone 4s as the economy version, while iPhone 5 as the premium version.
