Creating a shopping list with Reminders and Siri
Cliff Joyce of Pure Blend Software introduced me to my favorite way of putting together shopping lists in Siri.
Start in the Reminders application and create a new list. To do this, tap the Lists but-ton at the top-left corner of the application. It looks like three lines on top of each other. Then tap Edit > Create New List ... and enter the name Groceries. Click Done. Once you have added a new list, you can refer to that list in Siri.
After creating the list, you can add items to it with simple requests whenever you think of something new you need to buy. Tell Siri "Add eggs to my Groceries list".
Siri asks you to confirm the new item. Just say Yes, and Siri adds it for you.
When you're at the market, just check off the items as you buy them. Couldn't be easier.
One more thing? If you're on a diet, this is an excellent way to keep logging what you eat, a little at a time.

Just today we released the ability to create full-featured wishlists with Siri. Instead of a static list, Wishpot also tries to find the best price of the item you're adding, puts it on a full-featured wishlist with the ability to reserve/purchase, etc. http://www.wishpot.com/siri/
November 22 2011 at 9:01 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyInteresting problem - Siri seems to remember the last list I saved to. I.e, If I tell it "Add apples to my shopping list" and later say "Remind me to call so and so" the reminder will be placed in the shopping list... any way around this?

You can only setup recurring reminders on ios
If you check-as-done a recurring reminder in iCloud and iCal, it will be DELETED everywhere else
You can only see a dated reminder on iCal if it is due today
You can see all due dated reminder in iCloud and ios
What the hell was Apple thinking?????
You can also look up your local grocery store or online website Printapons and find a list of the best deals, and the sites will match sale items with coupons.

I have a grocery list too, and I share the list with my wife so she can add things to it from her iPhone.
To share a Reminders list, you need to go and sign in to the iCloud.com web page, then:
-Click on Calendar.
-on the Left hand side of Calendar, you'll see all your lists.
-click on the little wifi looking symbol next to the list you'd like to share.
-add the email of the person you'd like to share with.
I had no idea you could share lists. Thanks for the tip!
October 24 2011 at 6:38 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHere's a sub-tip. Call it "Grocery" not "Groceries". Siri gets confused unless you call it exactly a "Groceries List" which is awkward.
Make others called "Shopping" or "Tomorrow" and refer to them as your Shopping list or Tomorrow list. Never include the word "list" in your Reminders topics. Otherwise, Siri gets redundantly repetitious.
I tried creating a 'Groceries' list in my reminder app only to have it magically disappear. I tried it several times, and tried it on my iPad as well. Can someone explain why this is happening, and how I can make the list stay there once created?
Thanks,
Ed
In order to completely ratify setting up a new topic, you have to hit three "Done" buttons. Easy to miss one.

Are you using a different Apple ID for the store and for iCloud. Perhaps you're signed into the iCloud with the Store ID?
You can also try creating a list at the iCloud.com website (see my note above)
On the calendar page of iCloud.com, you can click on the gear on the upper right and add a new list there.
