Jetpack Joyride zooms to the top of TUAW Best of 2011 game app voting

Barry Steakfries has to be one happy camper today. The hero of Jetpack Joyride (US$0.99) from Halfbrick Studios was the runaway (or shall we say fly-away?) winner of the voting for the best iPhone game app of 2011.

Barry's adventures trying out experimental jetpacks came away from the TUAW Best of 2011 voting with 39.2 percent of the votes, handily beating second-place winner W.E.L.D.E.R. That $1.99 word game was surprisingly popular as well, grabbing 26.9 percent of the reader voting.

Many thanks to the TUAW readers who nominated their favorite iPhone game apps and then voted in the competition. Congratulations to the team at Halfbrick Studios for winning this category in the TUAW Best of 2011.

Yeah right... I bought that game, and whenever I launch it on my JB iOS5 iPhone4, I get the loading screen and then it crashes back to springboard, never managed to play. Deleting, reboot, reinstalling, reboot before launch didn't help. Waste of money.

Because it doesn't work on your jailbroken phone? You're right; that's totally the dev's fault and not yours.

It may not have the same flash as Infinity Blade II but with the latest update I've found that this game has a much higher replay-ability than other games. I'm already tired of Infinity Blade II and Shadowgun but I keep playing Jetpack Joyride and I've owned it longer than those other two games and it cost less.

agreed; if i'm only taking the metro up a stop or two jetpack joyride is perfect. infinity blade wouldn't even be loaded and ready!

Couldn't agree more with this win. This game is really fun and well deserving of the title!
