Kostenlos Mittwoch: Es Gibt TV!

As Brett posted earlier, guess what's neu over at the Deutschland iTMS? TV Sendungen! Finally, TV has macht its way over the channel from England and für nur €1,99-€2,49 an eppy, you can get your TV on with South Park and Desperate Housewives. As far as the new hinzugefügte goes, I had a bit of trouble getting it all working this morning. You might have to wait until the store gets fully sorted. Here's a direct link to the new TV section, which features TV so wie Tramitz and Friends, Kaya Yanar, und Sechser Pack. Bitte forgiven Sie mein Deutsch. Despite having taken Erste Jahr Deutsch dreimal, not a lot of it stuck with mich. Kostenlossen/Gratis heute gibts jetzt in TV:

Deutschland: Ladyland, Staffel 1

Deutschland: Switch, Staffel 1

As an update to yesterday's Free Tuesday post, I'm happy to bring you some extra goodies that showed up. I'm particularly happy about the New Amsterdam pilot. My EyeTV bonked out about half-way through (Elgato promises to send a replacement once I ship in the wonky one--my second wonky one in a row mind you) so I only saw the first 15 minutes. I also plan to watch the Cantebury's Law pilot although I'm getting just a wee bit tired of procedurals. Enjoy the extra goodies.

US: Ax Men,
Explore the past and present of the rough-and-tumble logging industry in the first-ever nonfiction series about the treacherous life of Pacific Northwest timber cutters, Ax Men. For more than a hundred years, larger-than-life characters, many of whom are members of logging families that go back to the time when the West was being settled, have spent their days among towering trees and powerful machines, and their nights in outposts far from the comforts of civilization. Snapped cables, runaway logs, and treacherous machinery are among the many dangers that threaten their lives and safety today. Follow four logging crews through a season in the remote forests of northwest Oregon and see how - plagued by mechanical failures, relentless weather, and violent and unpredictable terrain - these men risk their lives every day in a constant struggle of man versus nature.

US: Greek, Greek--this is a Frepeat, isn't it? I kind of remember this from way back.
ABC Family's hit original series, Greek, follows the story of Casey and Rusty Cartwright as they navigate their way through Greek life at Cyprus-Rhodes University. Now that Casey and Evan have split, her feelings for Cappie re-surface just as her rival, Rebecca, catches Cappie's eye. And when her sorority sister Frannie goes after Evan, will it be more than Casey can handle? Don't miss even one episode!

US: Canterbury's Law,
Emmy® winner Julianna Margulies makes her return to network series television, headlining the series about a lawyer who goes to great lengths, sometimes even crossing the line, to defend the wrongfully accused. At home, she and her husband (Aidan Quinn) struggle to reassemble their marriage after the tragic and unsolved disappearance of their young son. She's aided by her partner, and sometimes conscience, Russell Krauss (Ben Shenkman); and the firm's young associates, the green Molly McConnell (Trieste Kelly Dunn) and the cocksure Chester Grant (Keith Robinson).

US: New Amsterdam, New Amsterdam
John Amsterdam is a New York homicide detective unlike any other. He is brilliant, mysterious, reckless, magnetic . . . and immortal. In 1642 he saved a Native Indian girl during a massacre of her indigenous tribe. In return, the girl cast an ancient spell that conferred immortality upon him. Amsterdam will not age, she told him, until he finds his one true love.

US: Mystery Diagnosis, Mystery Diagnosis
Discovery Health's Mystery Diagnosis follows the investigations of medical mysteries. Symptoms emerge. Tests are analyzed. Specialists are consulted. But still, something is not quite right. Time passes and the daily struggle continues. And then one day, because of a patient's relentless pursuit of an accurate and final diagnosis (or the determined efforts of their family or a forward thinking doctor) the puzzle is solved and an accurate diagnosis given. Each episode tells personal stories through intimate interviews with the patients themselves, as well as their families, friends, and doctors. Personal photos and home movies, recreations, and CGI anatomy sequences take the viewer step-by-step through a medical odyssey.

US: America's Prom Queen, (Frepeat)
America's Prom Queen is a new original reality series from ABC Family. Several lucky girls have been chosen to go on a journey of a lifetime where they will compete against each other and face the Prom Committee as they campaign to win the tiara as America's Prom Queen. Susie Castillo (Miss USA 2003) hosts the show and serves as a mentor for the girls, but their fate is in the hands of the Prom Committee, whose members include Jai Rodriquez, Brooke Hogan, Theo Von, and Susan Schulz. Watch as the drama unfolds and the competition heats up!

iTunes: Free Wednesday

Welcome to this Wednesday update of iTunes freebies. Today brings all the tracks that were MIA yesterday. In addition, the problem with the US and Canadian free singles not actually being free seems to have resolved itself.

Australia: Help Is On Its Way by Mitch Grainger
The music on Mitch Grainger's debut album Love & Demons was written directly after the fall of the Twin Towers. The Aussie singer/songwriter was visiting New York City at the time and the events of September 11 resonated profoundly in his songwriting. The track "Help Is On Its Way" has a spirited, upbeat jangle, but there's definitely a bit of loss and even more hope in his soulful rumblings.

France: Luscious Life by Patrick Watson

UK: Feeling Free by Nicole Willis & The Soul Investigators
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band we've been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. Before Nicole Willis hooked up with the Finnish funk group, the Soul Investigators, she had done time with the Brand New Heavies, played with Curtis Mayfield, recorded for Mo'Wax and was one of the original members of Deee-Lite. Her funk credentials certainly cannot be questioned. "Feeling Free" is from her first full-length, Keep Reachin' Up, and it's a stunner. Like a string-soaked Impressions track unearthed from the vaults (or a grittier Amy Winehouse tune) and with Willis strutting with authority on the vocals - this is authentic soul music.

Welcome to this week's edition of iTunes: Free Wednesday featuring a new collection of free singles and videos from around the world. Each week we send out our dealgnomes to the furthest corners of the Earth to find and retrieve iTunes freebies from all the International stores. Here's what's new today. Unfortunately, it's a pretty dry spell video-wise. Things should pick up pretty quickly once the Fall TV season swings into action. We keep hoping also that the UK video store will launch asap.

US Music

US: Song for the Fields by Fields
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band we've been enjoying and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. We get a lot of music coming through these parts, but the Fields struck a chord with us that we wouldn't mind being struck more often. "Song for the Fields" is a traditional folk tune as it might have been if the Flaming Lips and My Bloody Valentine took the place of Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger. Boy/girl harmonies that coo and curl around each other and moody, frantic acoustic guitars culminate in an expansive full-band, swooning blow-out at the end. Very nice and very free.

US: Esta Soledad by Kany Garcia
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Canción de la Semana. Puerto Rico's Kany Garcia has a warm, strong voice that starts out with a deceptive whisper on "Esta Soledad." The track builds as Garcia takes command of the track, unveiling a strong voice suitable for shouting from mountaintops. Her band provides her with a slightly dreamy backdrop to work around, creating a sturdy mix of Coldplay-esque alt-rock in which to display her vocal skills.

US: Wrecking Ball by King Wilkie
Our Discovery Download puts the focus on a different genre each week, offering up a free track we think is worth your attention. King Wilkie are a young group of performers from Charlottesville who started out as strict adherents to the bluegrass style, but have opened up their doors of perception a bit more on their newest album, Low Country Suite. "Wrecking Ball" shows their love of the bluegrass form, but features a steely-eyed vocal more akin to a blues moan.

Welcome to this week's edition of iTunes freebies. This week we feature a new collection of free singles and videos from around the world. Here's what's new today.

US Music

US: Born Losers by Matthew Good
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. Matthew Good's brand of reverie and disconcerting personal analysis in song has made him a favorite in Canada for years. His newest album, Hospital Music, is an especially riveting portrait of a man who's been to the edge and back. We're offering you the rumbling, epic folk-rock of "Born Losers" as a free Single of the Week in the hope that you find the time to bring a little Matthew Good into your life. You won't regret it.

US: Alegria by B-Side Players
Each week, we find a track from an artist or a band who's on the cusp of success and bring it to you, for free, as our Single of the Week. San Diego groove collective the B-Side Players have been together for more than a decade, setting progressive political messages to a movable feast of reggae, Latin jazz, folklorico, and ska. "Alegria" is a track from the B-Side Players' new album. It's a celebratory track with horns blazing and a great call-and-response middle section.

US: Omigod You Guys by Annaleigh Ashford, Dequina Moore, Laura Bell Bundy & Leslie Kritzer
Our Discovery Download puts the focus on a different genre each week, offering up a free track we think is worth your attention. This week, we're featuring the opening song from the Broadway production of Legally Blonde. This candy-coated musical has been a surprise hit, winning over both the tweens and the critics (no easy feat) with its portrayal of Elle Woods, the California blonde who defies expectations by heading to Harvard Law School.
