MacBook SMC Firmware Update 1.1

MacBook owners: dust off Software Update and download yourself Apple's latest take on the MacBook SMC Firmware (1.1). This update, 'improves the MacBook's internal monitoring system and addresses issues with unexpected shutdowns. This update is recommended for all MacBook systems, including those that received warranty repair. The updater application will be installed in the /Applications/Utilities folder. Please follow the instructions in the updater application to complete the process.'

Very interesting that Apple addresses the Random Shutdown Syndrome in the text of the update. Check out the full instructions, and note that you must be running at least OS X 10.4.7 to install this update.

MacBook SMC Firmware Update 1.0

Attention MacBook owners: fire up Software Update to get the latest MacBook SMC Firmware Update. From the updater: 'The SMC Firmware Update adjusts fan behavior in the MacBook. The updater application will be installed in the /Applications/Utilities folder. Please follow the instructions in the updater application to complete the process.'

Could this spell the end of the Mooing MacBooks? Only time can tell.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

MacBook Pro 17-inch SMC Firmware Update

Apple has just updated the firmware for the 17 inch MacBook Pros. This firmware update 'adjusts fan behavior' in Apple's hot new portable (that's a pun, folks. Thank you, thank you).

Let's hope that the MacBooks will get a firmware update to address the Moo problem.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

Intel Mac SMC firmware update

The folks at Apple are busy little bees. Not only did they release the MacBook and update the MacBook Pro, but they also had some time to release a firmware update or three.

The SMC firmware update for Intel iMacs, MacBook Pros, and Intel Mac minis addresses boot issues with all of them. Get to updating!

Tip of the Day

Holding the Command key (aka the Apple key) and pressing Tab will cycle through your open applications. It's easier to Cmd-Tab if you are Copy (Cmd-C) and Pasting (Cmd-V) to and from various applications.
