Take a stroll down memory lane

Most Mac users know the ads that Apple produces are really good and very effective at getting a message across. It's pretty much been that way from the start. Don't believe me? Web Designer Depot has collected ads that go way back to the Apple II, and it's a fun trip. I remember most of these ads, as I first started with Apple after I dumped a TRS-80 for an Apple II way back around 1977 or so.

Some of the ads look a bit dated of course, but Apple always had great copy and a decidedly non-institutional bent to their message. That, of course, continues today.

Those who remember these products will get a kick out of seeing the ads again. Those who don't are sure to find them an interesting window into the corporate mind of Apple.

If, by the way, you haven't had your fill of Apple advertising history, saunter on over to the Mothership gallery and look at even more Apple stuff.

AppleGazette lists top 10 Apple commercials

There's nothing that warms the cockles of a blogger's heart than a good list of things. This time around AppleGazette has compiled a list of the 10 ten Apple commercials of all time. The usual suspects are there, HAL, Ellen Feiss, and Think Different. Oddly enough 1984, possibly the most famous commercial ever, didn't nab the top slot.

Oh, and the image accompanying this post is from the worst Apple ad ever. Sound off in the comments if you know which ad it is.

Apple posts 3 new Get a Mac ads

Apple has finally posted those 3 new Get a Mac ads that we have been talking about from time to time. Counselor shows the Mac and PC speaking with a counselor (who knew?) and trying to work out their differences. 'Better Results' features Gisele as a Mac home movie, and a dude in a dress as a PC home movie comparing the strengths and weaknesses of each platform's movie making abilities. 'Self Pity' shows off the fact that Macs can run Office and includes my favorite line of the bunch, 'What's with the big boy clothes,' asks the PC of the Mac.

What do you think of this latest batch of ads from Apple? Sound off in the comments.

Thanks, iwit.

Joy of Tech on the new Apple ads

The Joy of Tech has a tiny tweak to the Get a Mac ads that they would like to see. I won't ruin the punchline, but I have to agree with them. That would get me to buy a few more Macs (they come in six packs, right?).

Thanks, Douglas.
