Macworld 2007 Show Floor Showoff: mStation Audio

One of the joys of attending Macworld is that you get to meet smaller vendors. Companies that you may never have heard of are showing off their wares, and in some cases they are pretty cool. mStation is one of those cases. Marc from mStation gives us an overview of the company and two of their products, the mStation 2.1 Stereo Tower and the mStation HTS (which isn't even on their website yet, though it will be available in March).

As always, there is a QuickTime version for your viewing pleasure.

Macworld 2007 Show Floor Showoff: Griffin Technology

We continue to relive the wonder and joy that was Macworld Expo 2007 with yet another showfloor interview. I got a chance to speak with Jackie from Griffin Technology about the Evolve and the Amplifi. Both iPod speaker systems sound impressive, though the Evolve is a little more exciting. Check the video for more details.

You can grab an iPod ready version of the interview here.

Logitech announces X-240 computer speakers with iPod cradle

Looks like Logitech has another set of computer speakers in the works. No surprise there, right? But the X-240 speaker system is more than just speakers. This time they've added a "control center" that includes audio controls and a headphone jack as well as a charge/sync/play cradle for your iPod, PDA, mobile phone or other DAP. The X-240 also includes specialized adapters for both the iPod and the Zune to provide a custom fit as well as to help manage cable clutter.

Of course you can still use the speakers without connecting an iPod or anything else to them, but why would you want to? Look for them to ship this spring for under $50.

iLounge reviews the i.Dream i-Classic Digital Audio System

I hereby declare today "iPod Sound System Saturday."

Not sure why, but I've got iPod speakers and sound systems on the brain today. I was catching up on iLounge and noticed their "first-look" of the i.Dream America i-Classic Digital Audio System. The pictures pulled me in. It just looks plain cool. Based on the description I'm betting it sounds good, too. iLounge notes that he inconsistently i-/i.named i.Dream i-Classic consists of a large amp, LCD AM/FM alarm clock radio base, four faux vacuum tubes, two removable cube speakers, integrated iPod dock and a 10-button remote control. It's $140 and has dock adapters to accommodate all dock-compatible iPods. Check out iLounge for lots more pictures. If anyone has one of these I'd love to hear what you think about it!

Playlist highlights the Home Entertainment Show

Dan Frakes, that wacky iPod aficionado, was on the ground at the 2006 Home Entertainment Show and he saw lots of cool iPod gear. Above you see the $1250 FH007 Mini System from Ferguson Hill (which remind me of the speakers that came with the Cube). Dan saw lots of other stuff (including a $16,000 speaker setup) so check out his article for the full scoop.

Ars Technica takes a look at iPod speakers

Those very detail oriented fellows at Ars Technica have set their sights on high end iPod speaker systems, and there can be only one. The review takes a look at the Apple iPod HiFi, the Altec Lansing inMotion iM7, and the Klipsch iFi.

The review is very in depth, but I don't want to say any more lest I spoil the fun for you (but the iPod HiFi does better than expected).
