30 inch Apple Cinema Displays boost productivity, especially when they are hooked up to 17 inch MacBook Pros. It is a fact. This cool rig, the backlight monitor really does it for me, is spartan but some folks were crying out for simpler rigs. See, I do read the comments!

Say what you will about Rig of the Day, and I know you will, but nothing says 'Rig of the Day' to me more than a monitor mounted on a wall. It just does something for me, plus think of all the extra productiity. So, today's rig is simple, clean, and one that isn't an orgy of Apple products.

I have seemingly declared this week 'TV' week on the Rig of the Day, so I knew I couldn't post this one. Now, I know there isn't an actual Mac in this picture, but rest assured that big 91 inch screen is being powered by an Intel iMac. I wonder what movies from the iTunes Store would look like on that monster.

Another nice and tidy desk. TUAW must have the neatest readers ever. This desk is graced by a lovely Samsung HDTV, an Intel Mac mini, an Apple Remote, a few external drives, and an XBox 360 (we'll forgive that one). Watching movie trailers using this rig must be nice indeed. HDTV Setup by x5_850.

Now, I know what you're thinking, 'I thought simple was last week's theme,' but I'm a sucker for a clean desk. Couple that with the Batmanesque angle that this picture was taken and you have a Rig of the Day. Granted, there is a PC laptop on the desk but we are all reasonable people and can overlook that in light of the Mac mini and something that looks like a Cinema Display.

Most of our Rigs of the Day are about fun, but this one is all about business. Creative business, perhaps, but it is business nonetheless. Powerd by a 2.0Ghz G5 PowerMac pushing pixels to a 22 inch and 23 inch Cinema display and a bunch of video gear, this rig is impressive.

Bribing us by displaying TUAW on four screens doesn't work, but having a cool iMac setup on the day that Apple announces new iMacs will get you featured. I was cruising the TUAW pool looking for a good candidate for Rig of the Day when I came across this setup. An Intel iMac with a flat screen on a desk mounted arm, an iBook, a Wacom tablet, and a Nokia 770 are the ingredients for this sweet rig.

Yesterday the Rig of the Day spent the holiday with his family, but he is back and ready to go. Today's rig stood out in the TUAW pool, as if it were in a spotlight of some kind. It is simply an iMac (with a keyboard and mouse tucked under the desk) with a little dramatic lighting thanks to $50 and a trip to Ikea.

What a week it has been for rigs, but it it my responsiblity to award the coveted 'Rig of the Week' honors. There was a clear reader favorite, but I couldn't let the Retro Simplistic rig walk away with the prize. While you're here check out the Week that was in our Rig of the Day:

Judging from our Rig of the Day pool, MacBooks are very popular (in fact, I'm typing this on one). Anyway, continuing our theme of simple, I give you a rig that seems to be made for watching movies. The LG flat screen monitor hooked up to a MacBook running Front Row warms the cockles of my heart. The desk is even sporting a bluetooth mouse and keyboard. And is that an Apple sticker I spy on that guitar?

None of my desks have every been this neat, even after I cleaned them up to take a picture. Two iPods, a MacBook, a Dell 2405fpw, some phones, a hard drive or two, and a DVD burner. What more can you ask from a Rig of the Day?

Simplicity is this week's theme for Rig of the Day, since my last pick was so very popular. Today's rig is eMac. by *nathan. An eMac on a pedestal, what more could one want? Nothing more, nothing less. It looks to me like this is an installation in a gallery, or an incredibly uncomfortable and inefficient office.

Oh, how I want one of these. The TAM was created in 1997 to celebrate Apple's 20th anniversary, and today it stands as a desirable collectible for Mac addicts and tech geeks in general. They aren't the most powerful machines in the world (a 250 MHz 603e processor just screams inside that grey shell), but it sure would look cool in the living room.

We just can't get enough of those wall mounted LCDs. Check out mkwhitley's Mac on a wall. The Dell 2005FPW 20" LCD on the wall is connected to a Mac mini hidden beneath his desk, with the cables popping out at the baseboard. We love it.
