Ticketmaster, iTunes promo

Ticketmaster announced a partnership with the iTunes Store today which will allow their customers to receive a free song from iTunes, starting this summer. A "music sampler" of the artist they're going to see will also be made available.

In addition, iTunes customers who pre-order certain albums will be able to buy concert tickets before the general public. You may remember that Apple tried this last year, and it didn't to very well. According to Sean Moriarty, president and CEO of Ticketmaster, that won't be the case this year:

"By providing direct links to iTunes, the world's most popular online music and video store, we're giving iTunes and Ticketmaster customers the opportunity to buy concert tickets, and explore and purchase great music..."

Also, look for iTunes + Ticketmaster gift cards this summer, which will be redeemable with Ticketmaster and iTunes. They'll cost $50US.

Columbia Records & Apple offer exclusive pre-order of Bob Dylan's new album, ticket promo

I guess the times certainly are a changin', as the man Bob Dylan himself has hopped on board with Apple and the iTunes Music Store to offer an exclusive pre-order ($13.99) of his upcoming new album, Modern Times, which lands on August 29th. Ticketmaster has even tossed their hat in, just like with the Red Hot Chili Peppers promo back in April, and is offering a pre-sale ticket opportunity for select dates on Mr. Dylan's tour to fans who pre-order the album.

Now if that isn't enough Bob for you, Apple has also created a digital box set simply called 'The Collection' which boasts 800 songs, but be careful using that one-click purchase option: it's $199, and also lands on the 29th. "Bob Dylan is one of the most respected poets and musicians of our time, and he is a personal hero of mine," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO, calling this opportunity a "a real thrill for us."

Modern Times (iTMS link) is available for pre-order today, and fans who purchase it will receive a Ticketmaster code by email which can be used to get in on that pre-sale at Ticketmaster.com starting August 30th, while the tickets go on sale to the public September 9th. More information can be found at bobdylan.com, as well as ticketmaster.com/bobdylan.

iTunes Chili Peppers promo angers some fans

Ok, everyone just settle down. A couple of weeks ago, the iTunes Music Store offered a deal to fans of the Red Hot Chili Peppers: Pre-order the new album [iTunes link], and receive a special code that would grant you access to a special Ticketmaster pre-sale for the upcoming tour. The codes were scheduled to be distributed yesterday, May 9 (tickets go on sale to the general public on the 13th), but so far many customers haven't heard a peep from Apple.

Call me an optimist, but I'm sure everything will be OK. I know it stinks on ice when it seems you aren't getting what you've been promised, but you've still got three days before John Q. Public can get his mitts on your tickets. Patience, grasshopper.

Of course, if the 13th comes and goes and leaves you ticket-less, then all bets are off.

Thanks, Adam.

Chili Pepper listening parties to be held at Apple Stores

It's great to see that when the Peppers (finally) decide to commit to something, they really dive in: iLounge is reporting that on May 2nd at 6:30 pm local time, Apple Stores in the U.S., Canada and UK will hold listening parties for the band's new album, Stadium Arcadium, set to land on May 9th. The stores will play all 28 songs from the new album and will be giving away a limited number of iTunes cards so fans can download the new single, "Dani California" (iTMS link). Let's also not forget that pre-ordering the new album enters you into a contest for a logo-engraved, 60 GB Chili Peppers iPod, and gives you access to a Ticketmaster pre-sale for the band's North American tour.

Win a Red Hot Chili Peppers iPod from iTunes

You may remember the Red Hot Chili Peppers as being among those who were quite opposed to the sale of downloadable music. A couple of weeks ago, I was surprised to see some of their music in the iTunes Music Store. This week, the surprises continue: Not only has some exclusive Peppers music been added, but there's an exclusive Ticketmaster pre-sale going on, an album pre-order, an exclusive video and booklet and a contest giving away the band's entire catalog plus a limited edition Chili Peppers iPod [iTunes link]. Whew. If you're a Chili Peppers fan, check this one out.
