SlingPlayer App for iPad Released, PRO Compatibility Issues

Merely seven days following the unveiling of the teaser video, the SlingPlayer for iPad is now on the market for $29.99. This application enables streaming from your Slingbox SOLO, PRO, or PRO-HD directly to an iPad using either Wi-Fi or 3G connections.

The price tag is somewhat steep at thirty dollars, and since the app is not universal, it would cost you double that if you wish to include an iPhone in your setup.

It’s important to note that the Slingbox Classic, AV, PRO, and TUNER models do not support the SlingPlayer Mobile. However, if you own one of these models, you’re not entirely out of options; you can benefit from an upgrade offer to save $50 on a new Slingbox SOLO or Slingbox PRO-HD.

[Updated regarding Slingbox PRO compatibility.

The app description from Sling indicates that the app is compatible with the Slingbox PRO when used on the iPad, however, feedback from our readers suggests otherwise. We regret any confusion caused and are in the process of reaching out to Sling to clarify their plans for compensating PRO owners who purchased the app mistakenly.]
