Apple Refreshes ‘All-Time Top Apps’ Ahead of 10 Billion Downloads

As Apple approaches the milestone of 10 billion apps downloaded, it has refreshed the lists of top paid and free apps for both iPhone and iPad, showcasing around 200,000 apps ranked by sales and downloads. While there are few surprises for those familiar with the App Store’s history, the rankings themselves are noteworthy.

On the iPhone, Doodle Jump emerges as the top paid app ever, followed by Tap Tap Revenge 3, Pocket God, and Angry Birds. For free apps, Facebook and other utility apps dominate, with Backflip Studios’ Paper Toss being the notable game in the top ranks.

The iPad’s list, only a year old, includes a mix of games and utilities in the paid category, and more predictable free apps, similar to the iPhone’s list, with iBooks notable among them.

These selections are largely expected, but it’s still fascinating to see them laid out.

Best of luck to those aiming to download the 10 billionth app, and kudos to Apple for developing such a robust platform over these years.
