Twitter 4.0 Update: New Connect and Discover Features for iPhone

The recently updated Twitter application for iPhone, now in its 4.0 version, aligns with the new modifications to its web counterpart. These updates, however, are exclusive to the iPhone, with the iPad version set to remain unchanged for the present.

This upgrade overhauls the iPhone interface, making it more consistent with the web version recently detailed by Engadget, which also noted similar updates to Gmail.

The interface is now segmented into four main areas: Home, Connect, Discover, and Me.

In the Home section, users can view their timeline and interact with tweets to see replies, retweets, and images. The Connect area provides notifications for new followers, mentions, retweets, and favorites, reflecting recent enhancements to the web platform.

Users can adjust settings to display all interactions or only mentions.

The Discover tab curates trending topics and user interests, offering a space to explore hashtags and follow recommendations. Meanwhile, the Me section has been significantly revamped to improve access to direct messages.
