Dutch Theme Park Enhances Experience with iBeacons

During a recent discussion on Apple’s financial performance, CFO Peter Oppenheimer highlighted the deployment of iBeacon technology across several Apple Stores, enhancing the shopping experience by providing product details and location directly to customers. Following this tech trend, iPhoned, a website focused on iPhone news, reports that a theme park in the Netherlands will soon adopt iBeacons to guide and inform visitors.

The park, known as Fluwel’s Tulpenland (Tulip Land), is set to become the first European theme park to utilize iBeacon technology to enhance visitor experience.

The park has collaborated with Amsterdam-based startup LabWerk for the implementation. The official Fluwel’s Tulip Land app will be launched in time for the park’s seasonal opening on March 29.

As visitors approach different areas within the park, their mobile devices will receive specific information about the attractions nearby through the iBeacon technology.

Floris Boekel from LabWerk shared insights with iPhoned about the broad applications of iBeacons, which extend beyond retail and include uses in museums, theme parks, events, and even healthcare sectors.
