Reddit Buys Alien Blue, Leading iOS App for Browsing

Reddit Buys Alien Blue

Despite its widespread appeal and significant presence online, Reddit has not offered an official mobile application for its platform, aside from an AMA-specific app. This has led users to rely on third-party applications or their mobile web browsers for daily access. In a strategic move, Reddit has acquired Alien Blue, the leading iOS client for browsing Reddit.

Jase Morrissey, the principal developer behind Alien Blue, has joined Reddit to continue enhancing the app with the Reddit team.

Morrissey expressed his excitement about his new role:

“G’day folks! I’m Jase, and I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the very talented reddit crew. I’m the developer of Alien Blue and have been working closely with reddit for many years now. I’m an iOS developer by profession, but I adore building software on any device or machine that I can get my hands on.

I’m almost always lurking on /r/PCGaming, /r/Games and of course,/r/AlienBlue. Now that I’m an official member of the team, I’m hoping to spend even more time doing what I love – building fun and powerful software for all of you.”

Accompanying this acquisition, Reddit has completely relaunched the app. To mark this occasion, Reddit is offering a free upgrade to a Pro account for anyone who downloads Alien Blue, starting from October 15 for one week.
