Parallels Access 2.5 Update: New File Manager and Enhanced Remote Access Features

As of today, Parallels has begun distributing version 2.5 of the Parallels Access remote access and control app. This app has earned high praise from TUAW bloggers for its exceptional remote control capabilities and swift performance, particularly when operating Macs via iPads and iPhones.

The latest update introduces a universal file manager, enabling users to navigate files on the remote desktop or within cloud services like Dropbox and Google Drive directly from their iOS or Android devices.

This new feature eliminates the need to use separate apps to move documents between the cloud and the remote desktop. Additionally, the file manager allows users to preview files both locally and remotely without having to open them.

I had the opportunity to test version 2.5 before its official release and was impressed by the utility of the new file manager, especially for accessing documents in Dropbox. The remote control functionality also appears to be quicker than previous versions, particularly over 4G LTE networks.

Parallels Access 2.5 further enhances the user experience by optimizing screen sizes and resolutions for newer devices like the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
