Apple’s latest move into live sports continues to gain momentum, as Liberty Media expresses strong confidence in its new partnership with Apple TV. The agreement marks a major shift in how Formula 1 reaches viewers in the United States, and leaders believe it could reshape the sport’s future.
Rising Excitement Around the Partnership
Liberty Media CEO Derek Chang recently spoke with CNBC about Apple’s growing role in F1 coverage. He described the partnership as energetic and promising, noting that it is already drawing attention from both new and longtime fans.

Chang also pointed to the success of F1 The Movie, which earned $650 million at the box office. According to him, the film helped expand the audience and kept interest high through the summer season.
Technology Takes Center Stage
Apple officially secured U.S. streaming rights in mid-October 2025. The five-year agreement allows Apple TV subscribers to watch every practice, qualifying round, Sprint session, and Grand Prix event.
Chang believes Apple’s technology will play a key role in improving the viewer experience. He stated that Apple can enhance the presentation of the sport and increase overall engagement through its platform.
Looking Ahead to Possible Expansion
When asked whether Apple might pursue global streaming rights, Chang kept expectations measured. He acknowledged ongoing discussions and hinted at broader opportunities but said no decisions have been finalized.
Liberty Media has controlled Formula 1 since 2017 and previously worked with ESPN as the exclusive U.S. broadcaster. However, ESPN allowed its contract to expire in 2024, opening the door for Apple’s entry into the sport.
A New Era for F1 Fans
Although the partnership is still developing, both sides appear optimistic. Chang emphasized that Apple’s involvement is already elevating the sport’s visibility and could unlock new possibilities in the coming years.
For now, fans can expect more streamlined access, expanded coverage, and a growing push to bring Formula 1 to a wider audience than ever before.
